Not only are there a lot of subliminal messages in Disney films, there is also a lot of racism.
In Dumbo, the main black crows name is Jim Crow and all of his followers have speech and mannerisms that depict African-Americans. Sebastian in The Little Mermaid has a Jamaican accent and sings about how life is easy when you don’t have many responsibilities. Many people think this was a jab at Jamaicans for being lazy. The alley cats in the Aristocats are all foreign. There’s a Chinese cat, a Russian cat, and a womanizing Italian cat. The Native Americans in Peter pan all sing about how the Native Americans received their complexion. The Siamese cats in The Lady and Tramp are named Si and Am and resemble the typical Asian stereotype with slanted eyes and buck teeth. The apes in The Jungle Book have British English accents, talk in jive, and sing like Louie Armstrong. There were plenty of Arab stereotypes in Aladdin especially in the beginning of the song where they are labeled as barbaric and will cut your ear off if they don’t like your face. The hyenas in The Lion King were looked down upon by the lions. They also lived in the elephant graveyard which seemed to represent the ghetto. In Pocahontas, the Native Americans were either seen as ruthless savages, or noble savages. Disney was being progressive when they had their first black princess in The Princess and the Frog. Fans were outraged at the fact that the Prince’s race was a little ambiguous. Well, what did you think of this list?

  1. Damnn I never thought of Aladdin that way. I am Arab myself, I don’t really care about this but it’s a bit sad how much people stereotype places like Syria, Iran, India, everywhere tbh

  2. Some of these like the Siamese cat might just be how they wanted the cats to look ya know they don’t all have to be racist just because their Asian cats 😐 (plz don’t argue in replies)

  3. Omg lol some ppl have to much free time on there hands. You would see Racism at the Baskin Robbins Robin's ice cream selection. Not everything has to do with racism they're cute movies it movies they're for children

  4. Navine wasn't black he was some kind of Spanish speaker and there's nothing wrong with that either way it would have been just as great. To suggest they did it on purpose so as not to put a black man in a place of power is ridiculous and cannot have been the reason. That's the thing about leftist, you can't please them, they demand that you make a movie with a black main character so then you do and then they find another reason to accuse you of racism still! They're only there to try to find fault in everything

  5. They made some good points: Aristocrats, Dumbo, Peter Pan, and Lady and the Tramp all had racist scenes that aren't acceptable. Jungle book? I never saw the orangutans as depicting a certain race. Lion King? The hyenas were hilarious, and again, didn't view them as a certain race. Little Mermaid? I really don't see how Sebastian is stereotyping Jamaicans. Princess and the Frog? Naveen was supposed to be from a different country, so it made sense he would have an accent. Also, his skin was lighter than Tiana's, so I'm not sure he was supposed to be black. Pocahantus? Everyone knows it was historically inaccurate, but the real story is not kid-friendly. Also, the entire point of the movie was how negatively the English viewed the Native Americans. (Literally, go listen to "Colors of the Wind")

  6. Why is everything always has to be racist or LGBTQIAXYZ please let us and our children just live our lives how WE want to as long as we are not bothering no one. Gotdamn

  7. 4:14 this video is about racism but you still continue to call native americans "indians". indians are indians and native americans are native americans-
