Primary school children ‘falling through the cracks’

Spread The Viralist

Black Dog Institute’s Director of Research Professor Jennie Hudson says she hopes the federal budget demonstrates the government’s commitment to mental health.

Professor Hudson said the accumulation of traumas, especially during Australia’s natural disasters, was an important matter to address to provide care at the right time.

“Children are falling through the cracks,” she told Sky News Australia.

“What we’re calling for is some mental health checks for primary school students so that we can catch it early and provide intervention for young people.”

  1. Sanity in an insane world is insane!! People in general are not mentally ill, the government and public service are PSYCHOPATHS!

  2. It’s just so sad that parents don’t put more stock in their childrens future! If there ever was a time to do so it would be now! Stop relying on the government to teach your children because I promise you they do not have your children’s best interest at heart!

  3. I have an 8 year old grand daughter that is now seeing a councillor because her teacher is put sh.. in her head about males ( by default her father) that she knows is wrong

  6. The huge elephant in the room with children and mental health is the fact that about 1% of boys will grow up to be psychopaths. Imagine a society where that didn't happen, or in the very least the disorder's impact on the development of young people was minimised. It would help to reduce a large swathe of other social problems from domestic violence through to the size of our prison populations.
