I have seen TOO many cases about children not making it to school and the parents aren't notified until the evening. That leaves HOURS that no one knows the child is even missing. Don't teachers do roll call? Can't they send a list of absent children to the office to have the staff call parents to get verification of why the child is absent?!?! HELLO!!!! If my kids miss a day I will call the school. This doesn't take a rocket scientist to get a system in order to do this. They text me 2 or 3 hours before school if it's delayed due to bad weather!

This is heartbreaking. Hindsight makes me wish someone had been able to save her. She needs to come home, but of course he will never give up her location, it's all about control. If the judge had sentenced him to death but have him the option of life without parole IF he gave her location, I can almost guarantee he would do so. What a bastard.
I feel like there were a lot of discrepancies with the case. Why would he leave all of her clothes behind but take her body? It just doesn't make sense, tbh. Or why would he try to kidnap women at the safeway he works? He would be identified asap. I feel like detectives were desperate to charge someone because of the media coverage this case received.
I will say the DNA on the clothes is really damaging, and his explanation did not help whatsoever. I do recall that the father was in hot water for a really long time and even opted out of helping search parties because he was a person of Intrest or a suspect.

I grew up in Fremont, so this one hit home. It's sad that still to this day, she hasn't been found.
His excuses bull crap. I was in a dysfunctional home with a very abusive father who is an alcoholic and would beat my mom up a lot we'd have to walk the streets late at night until he passed out. I never became a psychopathic killer. So his excuses just completely lame he's just an evil person. I would never think about harming another person like he did. So that dysfunctional poor me excuses bull crap
I lived in Hollister, about 30min away from Morgan Hill when this happened. My family had went to the tomato (i think, could've been a different veg) festival and met her parents who were running a booth there for her. It was heartbreaking be able to talk to them. The case really touched the cities of Hollister, Gilroy, and Morgan Hill especially, the trees being covered with pink ribbons. We had a bring sierra home bumper sticker. So so sad. That poor girl.

Thank god that this dude got some shitty lawyers. With the evidence present and no crime scene I would be arguing that he assisted her in running away and she consensual encounter with him prior.

I was a senior at the high school she went to when this happened. I remember it being such a huge shock for the small town of Morgan Hill. So sad
