  1. removing the tire marks is a great idea. its one thing thats always bugged me in movies when you can see the marks of how many times theyve done it before. but when its tv shows i actually like it for some reason, like in say Supernatural when they do a wicked driving scene or skidding parking job etc, and you can see how many times they did it before, its cool. and yes im a supernatural fanboy, I mean the best coolest character does have the same first name as me, & in S04E17 he has the same last name as me too, so how can i not be. lol.
But yeah its weird how i dont mind seeing the tire marks in tv shows, but cant stand seeing them in movies.

  2. I've applaud and welcome the CG roads. I ALWAYS get disconnected from a movie and brought back to reality when I can see skid marks on every corner that a car is taking in a scene. Same with driving off road in a scene. There are always tracks through the desert or in the snow.

  3. An all-CG title sequence to look at: Blade Runner: Black Lotus.

There are also scenes in the show that demonstrate how hard it is to get 3D CG human characters to move naturally (sometimes they nail it, sometimes they whiff). It's almost certainly because they didn't have the time and money to do motion capture for every character in every shot (and as you've shown, motion capture is only the beginning, anyway…).

  4. I think an interesting episode would be the Toho godzilla movies. They used some cgi in the breath attacks and destruction that was sometimes quite cheesy. But you should compare that to shin godzilla (2016) which used amazing cgi in it.

  5. Would love to see you guys do an episode on music videos! Specifically the music video "Wide Open" by the Chemical Brothers. Cool song and an awesome video with some beautiful CGI. Would love to see the Crew's opinion on it. There's a making-of video too that explains how they made it.

  6. I think a reaction to Apples' WWDC virtual keynotes would be very interesting and slightly different than just another movie or TV show. Lots of people have been very impressed by the transitions especially.

  7. I have a suggestion! My senses are tingling when i watch BBC's "World Smallest Cat", i can't tell if the the cat is real of CG because some of the shots doesn't feel right?

  8. Would love to see you guys cover the simple things we take for granted these days, like wipes for example. fades to black? or wibbly wobbly dream sequence transitions? ya know, things that we can do at the press of a button now.
I think i read somewhere that wipes were done by using a piece of leather at one point?

  9. The idea for doing openings is awesome, but not just openings from modern TV shows. I think people would be just as curious about openings from TV shows back before CGI. Another one that would be good would be Movie Logo cards, like 20th century fox and universal etc, how they did those back in the day.

  10. I don't think you guys have done these yet, and maybe a lot of people already know them, but in case they don't, here's some ideas for your next VFX react.
The car chase from the film 'We Own The NIght', Jeremy Renner in the movie 'Tag', Toby Maguire in 'Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas', 'Zodiac' need i say more about this one?, 'The Truman Show' for the fact that they were only allowed to have sets 35ft tall, yet there are plenty in the film much higher, sus? Keira Knightley's skin in 'The Jacket', Limo and train scene in 'Logan', border crossing in 'Sicario', Lindsey Lohans boobs in 'Herbie Fully Loaded' (a sentence i never thought I'd ever write, but there ya go), The sign in 'Die Hard 3'. i was gonna say the white suits in avengers endgame, but i think everyone knows that one by now. Anyway, tthese are just some of the ones off the top of my head. I especially love one from We Own The Night.
