Winter Storm Landon Live Updates: Major Interstates Covered in Snow and Ice, Hundreds of Flights Canceled
Portions of major interstates are shut down, hundreds of flights are canceled, school is called off, and residents are being told to stay home as a significant winter storm treks across the Plains and Midwest.
The storm, named Landon by The Weather Channel, is already bringing ice, snow and plunging temperatures to many areas, and it’s expected to impact a wide swath of the U.S. from the Rocky Mountains to the Southern Plains up to the Northeast through Friday.

A round of highly localized torrential rainfall triggered a deadly landslide in Ecuador’s capital city of Quito Monday and left parts of the region buried in mud.
At least 16 deaths and 46 injuries were attributed to the massive landslide
The deluge worked to loosen a portion of the slopes of the Pichincha volcano, located just west of the city. The landslide, carrying a combination of mud and debris, quickly rushed downhill and overwhelmed the population of the La Gasca neighborhood below.
Shark attacks rose worldwide in 2021 – and 64% of bites occurred in the US

The annual report is put together by the Florida Museum of Natural History. The organization’s researchers investigated more than 130 alleged shark-human interactions worldwide in 2021. A mix of species, including great whites, bull sharks, and tiger sharks, were the leading culprits in unprovoked shark attacks.

I drove thru Missouri during that storm a lot of people seem to think driving at fast speeds is safe. I don't have the dash cam video's but were a lot of big trucks, car and so on off the roads. Hwy 65, 63 interstates 70 going into Kansas City was somewhat clean but still people drive way to fast like the dude in the white truck who passed me and lost it bet he was going 60 or more, all where ok but truck was a total! I came from Searcy Ark. left there at 7:30 am took my time got home in Plattsmouth Neb. at 8 pm.
