A wave of storms pounded the Deep South, leaving a trail of splintered trees and damaged buildings.
The weather service says roughly 16 million people in the Southeast could see powerful storms through early Thursday. And a region of nearly 3 million stretching from southeastern Arkansas and northeastern Louisiana across Mississippi into Alabama was at particular risk for big twisters that stay on the ground for miles. Scattered damage was reported in Alabama, Mississippi and Texas.

As soon as i got home from work, i had to go to the basement and barricade myself and the dogs behind a gun safe. Pulled an old washer beside us and had a motorcycle helmet. Stayed down there for about an hour and a half. Came back up for about an hour then had to go back down for another hour. God protected Alabamians yesterday
Me and the rest of the folks here in Bibb county got lucky that not a single tornado landed in our area. Neighboring counties like Tuscaloosa and Chilton weren't so lucky though, God bless everyone effected by this
