In 2021, people continued to cross international borders in their millions, seeking protection or opportunity away from their homelands and enduring hardship.
United Nations figures show that the number of internally displaced people is dramatically on the rise, as is the number of people fleeing their country for asylum.
More than a third of those fleeing are under the age of 18.
