Authorities in the Philippines are warning that a volcano near the capital could be on the verge of a dangerous eruption. The Taal Volcano, about 60 kilometers south of Manila, began spewing ash and lava on Sunday. Taal is one of the most active volcanoes in a region where earthquakes and eruptions are a daily part of life. Manila’s international airport was temporarily closed and tens of thousands have fled, while others are refusing to leave their homes and farms.

Volcanoes are fascinating.
I was in the phillipines when it happened, I even took photos of it, looked like a massive mushroom from the side, also after the eruption there was ash everywhere and people were brooming the ash off the streets
i was a witness of the eruption and was in taal in that time but we evacuated in time
I remember this.. i hope this wont happen again as a filipino.

I climbed this volcano in January, 2019, about a year before the eruption. I peered down into the cauldron, which was filled with water. But you could smell sulfur, and see smoke coming out of the ground.

We were in Batangas for a 3-day retreat when Taal Volcano Erupted. On our way home, we thought what we saw was just an abnormal cloud formation which looked like a mushroom. There's no internet connection from where we're at at that moment so we haven't heard anything from the outside. We didn't know it Erupted until our bus' window were slowly covered with ashfall. For the first time ever, we had to wear masks due to the ashfall, and I never knew I have to have a mask on since then.
I'll never forget that!
