  1. SFPD is totally useless. They are not doing their job. Every police officer, if they have an ounce of ethics. they should resign. They are not stopping any crimes, speeding, car-breakins, etc..

  2. This is very sad. Don’t count on the city to do anything. They’re cold heartless self serving self idolizing parasites.

  3. If the driver is a career criminal, CHESA BOUDIN will make sure they're back on the streets and running over and killing more people in no time. If you think this comment is harsh, LOOK UP "27-year-old Hanako Abe of San Francisco, and 60-year-old Elizabeth Platt". Two innocent lives lost because we have a Pro-Crime DA who supports a catch and release program with dangerous criminals. RECALL CHESA BOUDIN

  4. Also another thing, the marina district and the cow hollow area is the one place in the city where you can just sense the entitlement from the people. And it definitely shows when they cross the street without looking both ways. Rich, entitled, and feel that they have the right of way (which they do), but always assume that some drivers might be distracted. Also, the people there roll through stop signs consistently moreso than any other place in the city. And the cops rarely patrol that area. They are too busy giving tickets to working class rideshare drivers. The people there are just too damn entitled.

  5. Franklin st going downhill in the cow hollow/marina area is a scary place. Especially if the drivers are making left or right turns at the intersection. People are hitting those corners fast.

  6. Our cities are built for cars and on street parking for cars. The only solution is to create a city that is built for people: pedestrians and bikes. This is a City and State controlled by the Democrats. Our leaders should act like the lefties that they claim to be. Balance peoples’ needs with cars’ needs. Right now it is 99% for cars and 1% for bikes and people. Make the city safe for people. I am so sorry about this mans life and all the other pedestrians who lose their lives to collisions with cars. And yes bikes also need to follow the traffic laws. They can hit pedestrians as well.

  7. 70 isn't that old, I see terrible drivers of all ages. The number one problem is idiots who cannot put down their cell phones for even a second. But they think they're great drivers, even when driving by braille. So they basically use peripheral vision to drive as they text. If a car goes through an intersection, they're not looking at the light or people crossing – they're following that car. That's why 2-3 cars go through a red light, following the 2 that just went through on the yellow. The Franklin Freeway has been a problem for decades. Speed dots (not bumps) on the downhill portion at intersections would wake drivers up and force them to slow. But, that costs money and makes noise. If you're a pedestrian, it's just like Frogger. Assume they're out to get you.

  8. That area needs to be a 25mph zone in that area due to the school and children cross walk in certain times of the day. As a safety🦺 Rep I highly recommend it. To enforce this policy a 4x fine should be imposed on violators.

  9. Everyone so quick to assume this was ONLY the drivers fualt … intersections are were differnt types of transportaion cross each others paths .. they have differnt wieghts and speeds which makes collisions very dagerous… STAY AWAY FROM YOU PHONE look down the street while listening to the road where your eyes arent… learn to pick out speeding cars with your ears so when you hear that you become more aware of whats coming at you ..

  10. One thing I have noticed is people think it's a race they want to win. Pedestrians must run for their lives because they won't win. When somebody is crossing they hit the gas because they don't want to slow down or stop. Everyone is in a hurry, everybody must get there faster

  11. Put speed bumps to wake drivers up. Very sad for a driver to be so inattentive that a death is a result.

What was so important for the driver that was worth this man’s life?

  12. All those fuckers coming down Franklin going way too fast. Pedestrians should know better than walking without looking at incoming traffic. I've seen pedestrians assumed drivers will stop for them even when its their turn to cross and not look while they crossed.

  13. Nobody in San Francisco knows what a stop is or red light. People here ignore them & after working & driving all day in San Francisco for over 5 years im yet to see officers pull anyone over for traffic violations…..

  14. Not trying to defend the driver because there’s no way the suspect is not at fault but far too often I see pedestrians just walking into the street staring at their phones or not keeping their head on a swivel. You’ll always have the right of way as a pedestrian but if you’re not making eye contact with the drivers then assume they don’t see you.

No amount of money from suing can bring back your ability to walk if you end up paralyzed or worse, dead. No amount of money is also worth rolling the dice and being hit by a 3+ ton vehicle.

  15. people run red lights quite a bit. Age doesn't change that. Speed bumps might suffice to slow people down. Having police sitting there near the lights also may help discourage red light running. I've seen 5 cars go through a red light before- and the last car, a guy almost hit a pedestrian and had the gall to yell at the man in the crosswalk. Here there are a lot of tweakers in one part of the county and they run the lights, stop signs all the time. It's why I have a dash cam. If I have to drive near there and a carload of them cause a wreck.. I can prove what happened.

  16. This is NOTHING new. I go to school on Van Ness in a private school and those drivers speed like there's no tomorrow. It will NEVER change because there is no law enforcement. Even they don't care. Get used to it people….it's never going to get better. Otherwise MOVE OUT OF THAT CITY. Duh.

  17. Sad, driving skills have plummeted throughout the SF Bay Area since the beginning of the pandemic. Every day I see people running lights, stop signs, unsafe lane changes, speeding and every other stupidity you can imagine.

  18. Need details, DETAILS. By How Much did she run the light? Was the guy Not Looking/Texting/ Oblivious to cross traffic?? Other Factors?? Just cuz the light says "walk" or go Doesn't mean it's Safe. Yea, if it's True that she ran a Red, and imho, unless it was two or three cars deep into the crosswalk, the poor guy Could've/Should've seen her coming (unless, again, he wasn't paying attention). I try and do my Darndest to look at cross traffic! PHUQUE THAT if I'm gonna belive that the "color" of a Bulb is gonna Stop a car!
