5. They do go into torpor during the hottest part of the day so they don't overheat but they are not dormant. I picked up a black racer that was in torpor and it learned me.

6. I thought animals that hibernate only hibernate if it is cold enough. We have critters that hibernate in cold climates they don't even go into torpor here. There are a few nights that get down close to freezing but it is not cold long enough.

13. I know some species of snake brumate before mating season, is this also a form of hibernation or is brumation something entirely different?
