Three Entangled Seals Rescued In One Run

Three Entangled Seals Rescued In One Run
Spread The Viralist

Naude and the OCN team are having a record rescue day at Cape Cross. The team have split into two and are now approaching a large group close to the ocean from each side of the beach. Naude spots an entangled seal and is quick to net and secure it so he can keep on scanning the rest of the group before they hit the water. The entanglement is very tight and left only a faint mark, really hard to spot. Wally uses the hook to get to the entanglement and quickly cuts it lose. Naude checks the seal’s sex for data and the seal is free to go. Denzil has an entangled seal in the big net and the guys rush over to help with the rescue. The seal has a really tight packing strap around its neck. They have one more seal to attend to with a relatively fresh entanglement that hasn’t left any scaring yet.

  1. This bigger team is so efficient and able to rescue more seals every time they run out. Still so many to rescues needed out there. Thank you guys…please take time for yourselves to rest physically and mentally.

  2. Seals are like :

Seal 1 : -"did they kill you ?"

    Seal 2 : -"No"

    Seal 1 : – "And you ?"

    Seal 3 : -"No"

Seal 1 : -"That's got to be the worst predators I've ever seen."

Seal 2 : -"………. do not not say it !"

    Seal 3 : -"…"

    Seal 2 : -"…"

Seal 3 : -"So it would seem :)"

  3. that was a very obedient seal ( 2nd one ) guy pointed to the ocean after the strap was cut loose, and the good boy seal went in that direction to the water. Yeah ! everyone.

  4. I know I said this before but you guys are out every day doing the same thing, making those you catch feel better – I would think the seals would start to accept you, not feel threatened! Go figure. I guess since food is not involved it doesn’t work!

  5. Still here watching your inctrdible rescues.
You must be so fit, would be hard to run on sand!
Are seal particular attracted to anything ring like?
I am amazed at how many are tangled up in our waste.
I hope you get lots of donationsm so maybe you could address the world of this problem?
I had no idea, that it is so bad. Those seals are so lucky to have you by their side!
Is there anybody else rescueing seals anywhere else in the world? Or penguins or others?
Do you know of any others anywhere on the globe?
Hopefully your technique and dedication gets other groups doing it also!
Lets like those videos and share them around the world.

  6. I wish I could help. I am older now and can't run as fast as all of you do. Such a rewarding job knowing you are helping creatures that can't help themselves. Your videos show the damage we are doing to the eco system on this planet. Keep up the great work!
