If I were an Officer, I wouldn't sweat anyone recording as long as the person is not in the immediate area of an investigation where they may get hurt, or become an issue of safety. Sometimes these wannabe journalists expressing their rights, are just plain rude. They'd get way further, if they were as professional as they want Officers to be toward them.

I don't think people realize, how much that blue line on the flag in salts me. I am a former service member of the United States Army 1st Calvary 11 Bravo. My first tour was 01 Kandahar afghanistan, my second tour was 04 Kabul Afghanistan, my third tour was 2010 Baghdad Iraq. That flag represents the United States of America and the men and women who serve it. Police represent their local department and their state. They have absolutely nothing to do with keeping this country safe. It is the most offensive backwards thing I've ever seen in my whole entire life. You didn't see a bunch of state troopers over there in Afghanistan I'll tell you that right now. The local Constable didn't have my back in Iraq. Take that flag off your uniforms. It's offensive and you're desecrating the flag. I know people are going to call me Karen and this and that but until you've been where I've been and respected and fought honorably for that flag, take it off your uniform.
