  1. I was small child All remember father holding me and running in knee up to water We stay on roof for long time then we go to hospital for long time and sister in bed she die. Sorry for English

  2. This is huge tragedy for the government no knowledge of tsunamis
Disaster will happen huge earthquakes then tsunami , if you near sea live near sea
And you see unusual things in the sea , ……go to higher ground.
Run , don’t go back collect things just go to high ground…

That’s why there’s tsunami drill in Japan ,

And prepare a huge backpack of necessities last for three days in case of emergency …..
    We always been told …

This is really sad many didn’t know about tsunami
And understandable many didn’t run for their lives coz they never know about what to happen …..
Same here…311 ,,even we prepared , after the huge shake, many went back home collect things ….check their relatives , or thought the wave was not that high …..but it was extreme tsunami many died …even we had tsunami warning many was loss

  3. One of the worst events in history.
Yes all these years later it is frustrating seeing those people stand there and watch but you’ve got to understand that back in 2004 people weren’t as educated on these things

  4. Everyone watching this documentary needs to understand that MOST OF THE WORLD had never experienced something like this before that day. A majority these people did not know they were in danger until it was almost literally right in front of them. A lot of these people tell they're stories about trying to hold their children and themselves above water, but getting separated from them by the force of the water only to find out later that whoever they had tried to save was killed. I say all of this because I've seen comment after comment downing and judging these people for things that were out of their control. It's wrong and disrespectful as hell to look down on these people for something you've probably never come close to even thinking about. Moral of the story is that these people have been through enough without other people fueling all of these issues

  5. All praise for Allah , Lord of the worlds . The Most Generous , the Most Merciful . Ruler of the Day of Judgement . Only towards Allah that we worship , and only towards Allah that we seek refuge . ( O Allah ) , Guide us to the straight path . The path of those , of whom that You have Blessed , not the path of those who have angered You , and not the path of those who have gone astray . Ameen , Ya Allah , ya Rabbul a'lamiin .

  6. it amazing how when this was published to youtube 3/16/11 just five days prior Japan was hit by a catastrophic earthquake and tsunami all i can say for myself I will never live near a beach and will pay close attention when i am on the beach for oceanic changes that might occur

  7. Whoa, 3:54 The meteorological agency called the radio and tv station to give them warning of a posible tsunami, somthey could warn the ppl? Dont they have a weather station channel or program on tv for that? So they could warn the people? They could have also called for a press conference to give this warning. We have that in Philippines, every night we have weather forecast bcos we get atleast 20 typhoons a year, so this forecast warns the people.
In this scenario, the meteorogical agency didnt did its best to send the warning. Those poor people.
Their country is also prone for tsunamis like Japan, meteorological/geological agencies warnings should be a priority. They should also invest in sirens like in Japan. With the sirens, people will atleast be warned and given a chance to save themselves. I watched other vids where some sirvivors said that they were lucky they woke up before the waves hit, others were sleeping and was surprised.
There was another tsunami that hit Indonesia a few days ago bcos of a volcanic eruption and theres a vid of a concent happening that was hit by the waves during the concert, and the people was unaware until the waves hit them. Thats insane! Why is the govt not monitoring this volcano and predicting the wuld be impact? They didnt even warned those ppl in the coastal areas.
Have they not learned from the past? They should be vigilant.

  8. Banda Aceh, Koh Phi Phi, Galle Sri Lanka… All places I visited during a 14 month backpacking trip I made in 1989-1990. So many beautiful, wonderful memories. Rest in Peace dear victims….

  9. I'm glad you recorded these people stories or take the time to collect from several sites.
At least is a better view of the all tragedy told by so many local residents.

  10. 1:14 all the hotel security guards were blowing their whistles but they ( tourists ) ignored it .

I think , many of us tend to ignore simple safety measures in our daily lives. So , I'm not even surprised.

    But it's very sad.

A perfect day that ended in a huge disaster for everybody .

  11. I don't think it's right to judge the people who did not run, they obviously didn't know about tsunamis. I just hope every country that has a shoreline educates people about tsunamis now. So many heroes in this tragedy though, so many amazing brave people helping others, I hope the survivors can find peace.

  12. Look at how these nations blame the "West" and international community for not helping them with warnings for earthquakes that are in their region. Why is it our fault? These people will always blame everyone else for things they should be responsible for. 19:16 Save yourselves and do the work.
