No club insures strippers. They have to pay the club each week to dance there in the first place! Even if she pays for her own insurance independently, I don't even know what manner of health insurance you'd qualify for if you told a provider that you do acrobatic stunts on two-story poles while nearly or fully nude without any safety harnesses or padding below you.

If there is any case for why we should adopt aMedicare for All single payer system this would be another one of. It's outrageous that she has to gofundme in order help pay for her surgery and medical bills, just because she is considered an independent contractor and thus have no health benefits. No one should be without healthcare or go broke from medical bills regardless of their profession or if they don't have one.

I used to dance n they do not have ANY insurance or job security. It's like being an Uber driver with more sexual assault. So if she didn't have credit card or a bunch of savings(honestly even if she did) she can't afford the care she's going to need. Also if she takes the time off its entirely possibility that her job won't still be there. I had friends who worked at a club with a pole twice as high as that one n I hard a heart attack everytime. Even when they didn't lose control of their falling it still made this bang that makes your heart stop everytime until they get back up.
I worked at this other club that the pole was self spinning n the girls were super catty so they didn't tell me n I got to the top threw my weight and promptly hit the ground and no one came to see if I was hurt or anything I was in the ground for a minute eventually the dj over the Pa asked if I was alive I raised n arm n everyone just continued their business while I was laid out. Smh. ??♀️It's really bad how dancers are treated and uts fucked up because people like them or the clubs wouldnt exist they're filling a market demand and trying to do better for themselves n their families about 98% of the time. It's just so effed up …
