  1. There is the dichotomy of art vs entertainment. And a lot of entertainment is simply something new. Nothing of substance. Just new due to the natural evolution, no striving growth, time investment. Look at Echo’s example of rap. Something new for the voice of boredom happens often these days. Is there any value in it? …

  2. Jocko and Echo, I've listened to you two and your guests for 2 years strong now. I want to thank you immensely. It's truly done a lot for me when I was looking for solid guidance, not just in business but in day to day life. So thank you again! I've never listened to anyone or anything more than you two. I enjoy how deep and real this podcast makes people look at the true human nature. No one can better themselvs without accepting the ugliest part of their own nature. This is the strongest lesson I have learned, so again thank you to Jocko, Echo, Dave, Rodger Hayden, Andy Stumpf, Dakota Meyer and all the best heroes who aren't with us today!

  3. @44:40 If you watch Patton from the 70's (in 70mm!) there is a scene where Patton is looking at the enemy all calm until his artillery and armor start taking out Rommel's guys and he goes "You brilliant son of a bitch I READ YOUR BOOOK!!!". Idk why but I immediately thought of that scene!

  4. The word he was failing to remember about lighting up potential enemy positions from a distance is called "reconnaissance-by-fire". Unfortunately, the modern-day version of Recce-by-fire involves finding ambushes by driving right up into potential ambush zones, completely ignorant of the possibility that said ambushers might have the numbers and equipment set up to wipe out the entire column (like a large L-shaped ambush supported by compounded IEDs and heavy-machine-guns for one example). Modern Recce-by-fire is based in the erroneous assumption that "the enemy can't touch us", and more than one combat-patrol has been completely wiped out by IEDs and heavy-machine-gun fire in the process. Unfortunately, early in the "war" most Recce-by-fire was undertaken in unarmed Humvees (maybe supported by some ass if they're lucky), which brings a whole new meaning to the term "cannon fodder". The art has been lost. The casualty rate of such activity has been reduced by MRAPs and mine-sweeping vehicles, but the tactic remains unchanged. If those of you who are unaware want to know what modern Recce-by-fire looks like, watch the "Burning Dog" episode of Generation Kill, where they liken Recce-by-fire to "petting a burning dog," and as the saying goes "never pet a burning dog". I know, it's just a short-run TV show, but they got a lot of things right.

  5. I love these podcasts, getting me through a hard time in my life.

Although I may be like (or feel like) Solid (Metal Gear Solid) I have been motivated by both you Sir Wilink And Sir Charles.

    Thank you for that!

  6. Just a random guy out here but I believe you would be a good presidential candidate. Straight forward no bullshit. Your leadership would draw honorable mention unto you I believe. To help clean up our country.

  7. I love these podcasts but not everything needs to be read through the lens of Jocko's latest book or consulting topic. I respect and appreciate the leadership advice but at this point I already know Jocko's perspective on these things. Just give me more a that Patton

  8. Thank you so much for this man. I have scoliosis and loved all the episodes you used to have with wounded vets. True inspiration. Made me face my problems.

  9. Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson and Jocko Willink literally saved my life. I was anxious, depressed and suicidal. Now I'm on TRT, I train BJJ, I tidy my damn room and I take responsibility for myself and my impact others.

  10. Perfectionism is a dream KILLER. We expect ourselves to be masters of something before we even start it. And since we never will be, most never take that first step. Get STARTED and SUCK! Get started and start learning. Adjust and you will become better. You just have to take a leap of faith and get the ball rolling. Everyone had to do it at one point. I don't even know what topic I want to follow on my youtube channel and I STILL make videos!! That's how you figure stuff out and improve in life.

  11. God has a mission for all who are willing to accept it.

Make the world a better place while you still have the chance. Build up yourself and strengthen those around you.

10/10 people die, but you can choose to do the right things while you're still here.
