I'm not for elderly walking around armed. 80 and above, of course it's a case by case assessment, but diminishment in mental, physical and speed make for a situation I can see being worse for the elderly. Having a firearm at home is an entirely different scenario.

This is exactly why I carry, I am too young to take an ass whopping.
I’m in my early 70’s, so I’m a lot closer to this than most. I’d have to draw on a lot of years of empty hand and knife skills on this. Remembering my Dad’s condition in his 90s I THINK I could have gutted this dude before he knew he wasn’t in a one sided (his) fight, but you’ve got to get the attitude, skills, and plan worked out decades in advance to prevail in a situation like this.
