Cryptozoology. The Basajuan a cousin of Bigfoot or a living Neanderthal?
Cryptid hominids are something I like to cover here on the channel especially when I find one that is lesser known.
It would seem no matter where we find stories of these wild men they have more in common with one another then they do differences.
This is the case with the cryptid featured in this video.
The appearance is that of a typical Wildman but there are a few small but crucial differences.

This..This was fantastic, dude. Refreshing to see someone cover the cousin of those hairy giants, Bigfoot. Superbly done. People would be amazed as to what is out there in those forests. I'd say they might even get chills should they really stop and think about it. The Basajuan and his 'wife' sounds eerily familiar to the tales you hear of the Oh'Mah capturing human women. Coincidence? I think not.
It kinda reminds me of those creatures that samurai jack taught to fight back the larger aggressive creatures that always stole their food.
This is a new one for me
1. Neanderthals were short (typically less than 5'5"), but were "stocky" compared to modern humans – but not "giants" by any means
2. No evidence of metal technology associated with Neanderthal
3. The description with the girl sounds more like a desperate Frenchman

That was too deadly. Haven’t heard of the basajuan. Maybe they were neandalthals but didn’t want the earth anymore and showed us some skills to get by. Maybe we’re the true custodian of the earth and they helped us to get there. Or maybe it’s all urban myth and humans wiped them out.

Interesting, Basque who live in same region are speculated to be direct descendants from Neanderthals.
This is new to me. I don't recall hearing about these basajuan wild people before.
Very interesting & in all reality neanderthals were far more evolved than man at the time of their coexistence. They were far more physically built in every way over modern humans, their feet & walk is still superior to ours now. They had tens of thousands years to evolve & adapt to the harsh environments then poof there gone & a weaker race "us" prevails & walks out of the Ice age nearly alone. Something just doesn't add up

Interesting, never heard of this one before. However, the Basque people are of Celtic descent and I would suggest that Celtic myth and legend is interwoven with events from the end of the neanderthal era to create this legend. I think an extant creature is highly unlikely but you never know.

I've never heard of the Basajuan before your video and it's something I find very interesting and a subject to do more research on, I find it amazing that such a species may still exist after all this time and it reminds me of the giant's of Afghanistan.
