  1. See………..this is why I like to African Safaris, with the hope that one day, just one day I never make it back or gets eaten by Lions or may an elephant would stomp on me.
    Makes perfect sense.

  2. Interesting information but a pretty amateur production. Poor sound quality and mistakes in pronunciation and grammar. It shouldn't be on the main NBC News youtube channel since it dilutes and diminishes the brand. Perhaps NBC should stop cheaping out and provide some equipment and editing assistance to their contributors, or establish a side channel for their lower-quality content, sort of like the TEDx channels.

  3. why would anyone live in Chicago, New York or LA…you could die…perhaps yer odds are much better than in a volcano that burps once in awhile…..bring on the tourists

  4. Whatever it is, minute by minute or hour by hour, I see no eruption here, just smoke and flying rocks. But why people go there in the first place? Well, the answer is… simple. Stupid people who always seem to think volcanoes are kid's stuff ever since the days of Pompeii where habitats had been inching and inching closer to that unpredictable Vesuvious volcano, haven't learned a lesson yet. Have you seen today's Pompeii? Homes as well as tourists have been inching right on the side and top of the sleepy Vesuvius. Imagine if it wakes up as it did in March 1944, all those on and around Vesuvius 'horseback' would certainly perish with no hope of escaping it. As I said, the ignorance of humans, the very daredevils who are trying to defeat the unexpected force of nature, they well and truly are trying to make a point on how courageous they are by inching closer to the unexpected, one of the most deadly force of nature. But, as they do want to play the courageous heros by pocking their long Pinocchio nose right inside the volcano without a care in the world other than being simply buffoons, they seem to always forget something quite important, to let their dear ones know first of their deadly adventure and to either write a Will, or prepare a cross in the event they become incinerated by the Devil.

  5. Terrible liar. The heli is completely destroyed, but perfectly intact with only the rotors damaged?! Useless for escaping? Yes. Destroyed? No. No even close.

  6. Your all so disrespectful with your high and mighty comments!
You are made well aware of the risks on this tour, you are made aware of the alert level warning, the whole tour is based upon the fact that it is an unpredictable active volcano.
Mt Ruapehu is also active but people ski happily on it, this island has had 1000's on 1000's of visitors so while you yourself may not walk on an active volcano many have. That does not mean they deserved what they got, I hope nothing terrible ever happens to you or your family.
This was a freak accident! Have some bloody respect for the deceased, injured and family of those affected!
You all commenting like you know what your talking about, go find something better to do and if your so clever go make a difference where it counts!

  7. Why anyone would want to go near an active volcano? People need to make decisions based on fact, when they do things like this. Nature doesnt care about tourists and what they want to see.

  8. The Facts are that it had been at Level 1 for years and 2 months before it erupted it went to Level 2 which is a level that means actively had increased and there was a likely hood of a Eruption. Once it had gone to Level 2 they should of stopped all land foot tours and only had boat tours around the Island as it had then become to dangerous to visit it by foot , but they didnt they carried on and i wonder if the people that visited that Volcano Knew it had even gone to Level 2 ? they should of been wearing protective clothing too as most were wearing Tee shirts and shorts so once the hot Ash and mud landed on them they were pretty much stuffed as there was no shelter on there for protection i guess us humans only learn by our dumb mistakes !!.

  9. Soo people willfully wanted to tour an active volcano island. It was smoking while they were on the island…cmon people use common sense ?
