Abandoned Werewolf Cat Rescued from Life of Pain

Abandoned Werewolf Cat Rescued from Life of Pain

I’m SO glad we were able to help this guy, get him off the streets and make him feel much, much better!

Here’s a rundown of everything that the vets did…

Firstly his claws were very ingrown and infected, so they trimmed them as far back as they could and soaked his paws in iodine to work on the infection, because his paws were so painful he must have been hunching down to stay warm and didn’t move around a lot, due to this he developed sores on the back of his legs which is why I was seeing blood… even though this is horrible, I’m glad he didn’t have any more serious internal injuries, I thought he may have been hit by a car.

His ears were also infected, so while he was mildly sedated they thoroughly cleaned them and put medicine in them… he has dental issues, only has 6 teeth left and will need future dental work, he also has conjunctivitis hence the eye drops

They gave him an antibiotic shot and he’s congested too so we will be starting him on meds for that…

Of course he was also crawling in fleas, so they gave him Capstar (internal medicine which kills fleas almost straight away) and then added topical flea meds too …. I HATE FLEAS!

*The BEST news is that he tested negative for everything on the SNAP test which tests for FIV, Feline Leukemia and heart worms!!

He hasn’t been neutered and we scanned for a microchip and didn’t find one (I’m VERY glad we didn’t) … my thoughts are that he was owned by someone who was maybe trying to breed him, he was neglected for a long time since it takes a long time for claws to get that bad… if he was a straight up street cat, all the walking around they do and scratching on trees keeps them pretty short. Plus is overall condition was very poor.

Then he ended up on the streets somehow, either he was dumped by his owner or the family of his owner after he/she passed away or he escaped? … I’d love to know his story, but it would more than likely make me very mad, the bottom line is he’s feeling much better than he was, he has a full belly and a warm bed with a good foster Mom!

The vet guesstimated his age to be between 8 and 10 years old, so we will make sure the second half of his life is lived in luxury surrounded by people who love him!

Special thanks to St Francis Society Animal Rescue and their volunteers for all their help! – http://www.stfrancisrescue.org/

  1. Take a look on the "Animal Watch channel" they did a show call "The Wolf Cat – The Lykoi". This cat looks like that really rare breed of wolf cat that is called a Lykoi. Thier is only a few owners and breeders in the UK. I would check his DNA to see before you neuter him because if he is a really rare breed it might be better for the survival of the breed to keep him intact. It would be great if he was a wolf cat and he could help expand the gene pool of this rare breed of cat and assist in the breeds long term survival. If he is a lost cat then maybe if you reeched out to some of the breeders you might be able to get him back to his family. On the other hand if he was abused by his prior owner you might be able to build a case and hold them accountable for his abuse. I think he is lost because why would someone spend all that money on a very rare breed of cat obviously he was loved because of how good and affectionate he with people. Contact the lykoi breeder on this page i am sure her and her friends can track down his owner if he is a lykoi. Good luck in finding his home! https://www.lykoielitefelines.co.uk/

  5. So hard to watch. I wanted to just skip it to the end but decided not to. I'm glad for people like you that go out of your way to help and have the connections and or extra money to do so. It breaks my heart to see any animal in such poor shape and love the happy endings. They don't deserve to be mistreated. Again, thank you and God bless!

  6. If people are curious this mutation has been known to pop up in populations of feral cats. I'm actually wondering if someone picked him up and was using him in backyard breeding.
