Family gatherings are a great time to eat delicious food, and I was lucky enough to be able to taste home cooked Szechuan food at a friend’s birthday party in Chengdu.

If you’re in Szechuan province, whether Chengdu or Chongqing, or any small town, there is a lot of food you have to try. There are so many dishes, but one of my favourite dishes that I love eating is the Szechuan spicy boiled fish (水煮鱼). It is just so delicious and spicy and numbing that it’s so hard to resist!
Out of all the dishes (Szechuan spicy boiled fish, chicken feet, sweet and sour cabbage, devils taro spicy duck, Bangbangji, and Beijing duck) the Szechuan spicy boiled fish was the best! This episode was a lot of fun to make because it was different from the usual eating food on the street type video that I make (not that I don’t love eating on the street!)

Have you guys notice that Trevor slurps his noodles like the Chinese people? That boy can eat spicy food. All those spicy food would make my stomach into mush.
who's birthday was it. a room full of people but who is the birthday person? no dessert or party hats or balloons. where's the cake? no streamers? no singing? they gave you the hottest food, but you can take it. your in the place of honor. omg what's your foot size. i like chicken feet. they now call them chicken paws in the states.

I really like this vid. I come back to it often. I love seeing you tackle the street food scene, but this home style of cooking is the most interesting to me. Trevor, now that you're a culinary dude, what are you cooking at home? Surely you do cook at home sometimes? I would be interested to see that. Also, do you ever prepare western dishes for yourself? I would think every now and then you would make something from back home.
