» MAASAI’S COW BLOOD RITUAL

1. MAASAI HOMESTEAD (Manyatta): Cow’s Blood with Milk + Porridge
ADDRESS: Kimana Sanctuary, Amboseli
OPEN: N/A

Back in the Maasai Homestead. We spent some time with the tribe and participated in a ritual that is both sacred and ordinary to the Maasai people. For decades, drinking cow’s blood was a way to make the most of cattle. They do not wish to slaughter an animal each week for meat so, in order to get nutrients such as iron and protein, they take some blood from the cow without killing it. This practice typically happens twice a month and on different cows in a herd.

?? COW’S BLOOD WITH MILK: The blood is taken from the cow and then stirred rapidly to separate the coagulation. Fresh milk is also added to prevent clotting. It is then poured into cups and served as a complete meal.

?? PORRIDGE: The milk is also used to make porridge. The flour is mixed with milk in bowl. Some water is brought to a boil in a sufuria and the mixture is added while stirring continuously as it boils.

?PRICE: N/A

?ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but currently call Vietnam home. I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. People either enjoyed my undeniable charm or enjoyed watching me eat things like coconut worms, and thus Best Ever Food Review Show came to be.

I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer. If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I’m a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Don’t forget to subscribe to Best Ever Food Review Show, so we can connect through food and travel and become Bestys!

  2. Why the hell would they demonetize this video? There’s literally videos of little girls SHIRTLESS with pedophiles in the comments. Nat Geo has videos similar to this. There are “educational” videos that aren’t educational at all. I don’t see anything wrong with this video, you guys showed us another person’s culture and way of life

  3. I did not expect this from you , the cows those have hump on their back provide A2 milk which is the most healthy one to drink , that's why they are sacred ,and promoting their killing , sorry that's just too much of stupidity???

  4. very interesting but so brutal. why's the bowman so lousy? the way he holds the bow and arrow and so many failed attempts. causing so much misery to that poor cow. Vegans will be so enraged by this video. Sonny, did you get food poisoning? The utensils don't seem very sanitary
