A COUPLE have taken their love of animals to the extreme – by opening up their home to over 100 rescued animals. Dr Prakash Amte and his wife, Dr. Mandakini Amte have dedicated their lives to helping both the animals – and people – of Hemalkasa, Maharashtra in India. The couple started the sanctuary – called Amte’s Animal Ark – in the early seventies after a chance encounter with an orphaned monkey. The shelter is now home to over 100 animals including snakes, crocodiles, hyenas and leopards.

The old man is son of the famous Murlidhar Devidas Amte, popularly known as Baba Amte, an Indian social worker and social activist known particularly for his work for the rehabilitation and empowerment of poor people suffering from leprosy. He and his wife, Sadhna Amte, had started an organization for the leprosy patients in Anandwan in 1950. Won numerous awards including Gandhi Peace Prize.

It's really sickening to see how some people here instead of focusing on the good deeds done by this man which by the way they'll never be able to do it in their life, only focus on how to bring him down. I can just see how low you people are. No one is gonna get hurt here cause of the special bond they share with the animals and keep in mind that these animals are under his care cause they can't survive alone in the wild.
