  1. I saw this on TV, back when Deadliest Catch was still on. RIP Big Valley and her crew, condolences to the families.

  2. Is it bad that when ever i see a boat capsized in the water all I think about is the band from the titanic playing as it goes down

  3. 0:17 – "…average death rate is one fisherman per WEEK"

0:44 – "over the last 15 years, 67 fishermen have lost their lifes."

Guess discovery channel doesn't know math very well…

  4. I'm so glad I was smart enough to realize that money isn't everything! I don't get the praying though? Think about it- "Dear God, please watch over us while we risk our lives for $40,000 a piece, so rich people can get richer & eat expensive crab at the same time, Amen!"

  5. I worked on a salmon boat I'm the 70s called the Pearl c
Asked the skipper I'm my second season for a raise with a couple weeks left I'm the season. He said no so me and my best friend went up river to a cabin we had to relax. This was the Columbia River Washington side
Got a call about a week later from skipper Bill Cutting asking us to join him and some friends to come down to Illwaco Washington where the boat was and go after some big Kings on a fun day. We agreed to be at the dock at 5 a.m
With our girl friends to go. So on the way out of Washougal Washington at 230 am I'm the woods we hit a deer who's hoves went through the radiator ruinging our plans. Bairly made it back to the cabin with the deer which we dressed
Never called Bill to let him know. Next day at the country store saw in the newspaper stand the Orgeonian news with the headlines
    Pearl c goes down

Upon reading the boat was under tow and flipped on the Columbia bar at 9 pm in bad weather
No survivors. I believe more than 10 perished
I freaked knowing a deer died saving the four of us from certain death. Life isn't worth a fish. The fish will be there tomorrow. Quit commercial fishing that day. I think it was 1976 in September. God rest their souls and he saved ours
Being on the ocean with mother nature is so beautiful but can be so deadly. I respect fisherman because it is one of the most dangerous jobs on Earth but it is also one of the most fulfilling adventures cuz you never know what will happen or what you'll see.peace in a storm lol

  6. Let's face it, 90% of the deaths here are purely because these sailors/captains refuses to go over basic safety protocols..

  7. Sig,when will you be here at the office ? I know your done off loading and I need you to call ASAP. I miss you too and do not forget to bring all info on loads /catches with full checks ! Do need to know if you want me to meet you at dock/pier !!" Pres.Admrl./Queen Janice M.Koch-Carter-Dictator/Zar and Owner of Berring Sea's Fisheries !!"1(907)209-8287

  8. I understand that it's good money, but I think that having a father is more important than new shoes! Kids need their dad, but people DON'T NEED to eat expensive crab!

  9. I am from Newfoundland, we have people on the North Atlantic on oil rigs and fishing boats, thay are not 150ft boats either, 65ft max aloud here for shrimp and crab fishery

  10. 5:17 That was Danny Vermeersch, from Belgium. He was only 33 years old.
Carlos Rivera, from Uruguay was recovered by a patrol boat. He was 35. Skipper Gary Edwards (46), Josias Luna (48), and Aaron Marrs (27) fell into the water without survival suits. They were never found.
Cache Seel (30) was the man who made it to the life raft. He was the sole survivor of the crew of the Big Valley.

  11. You atheist skirts just can't hide your anti Christian bias. I never hear you ladies slamming the religion of peace. You can't seem to get your skirts up over your heads fast enough for that religious bunch. Probably has something to do with those Christian's turn the other cheek line. That's it isn't it girls. Makes sense on one hand get your head cut off vs turn the other cheek. Easy choice huh girls. Lol. Keep your anti Christ views to yourself. I'll bet you wouldn't spout your mouth to those men on the ships praying would you girls.

  12. according to the wiki they went to sea with pots three times the limit issued by the coast guard plus the added bait for them all, putting them heavily overweight which contributed to their capsizing
