In US news and current events today, this newspaper printed sheets of toilet paper to help people during a coronavirus-fueled shortage.
The NT News, based in Australia’s Northern Territory came up with a humorous solution to a toilet paper shortage that’s reportedly been fueled by fears of COVID-19.
The Twitter hashtags #ToiletPaperCrisis and #ToiletPaperGate are trending in Australia. People are posting photos and videos of empty shelves where toilet paper used to otherwise be fully stocked. Sydney resident Jessica Amir made this video at a supermarket in the Sydney suburb of Mona Vale on March 3.
The shortage reportedly began after new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country. Guidance from officials advised people to practice good hygiene and stock up on household goods if they felt it was necessary. People are clearing shelves of more than just toilet paper.
Consumer behavior researcher Nitika Garg says people have stocked up like this for natural emergencies before, but it’s been due to natural disasters and was usually localized.

There is no shortage of toilet paper and it's not that people stocked up with toilet paper. The shelves were emptied. Not to say there wasn't an excess of toilet paper purchasing. They could have filled the shelves.

The shortage has become serious. No joke. We live rural. A small country town where the only supermarket is the IGA (high cost) with lots of low income elderly people and low income families (live from pay to pay, can’t afford to stock up) is virtually out. IGA was selling by the roll.
Why toilet paper? Use water in a small vessel called bodna or lota. It’s much more cleaner too!

All this is just madness! You just need to wash your hands and keep away from people showing signs of flu or coughing. Why all the toilet paper? Corona virus doesn't cause diarrhea, this makes nonsense to hoard toilet paper. Wash you hands and clean things your touch often and you'll be ok. No toilet paper required.
That's happening here in America as well. People are buying multiple things of the bulk Kirkland Costco sized toilet paper for no reason. Bulk toilet paper can already last like a month
It's happening here to I live in Arizona. i had to go to three different supermarkets to find toilet paper and for a decent price. there was one that had a note on saying due to high command you can only get 5 items per customer. that were for flu based products.

If your in the United States a useful replacement for TP is Viva brand paper towels. It's just as soft as TP.
