  1. Bad lessons. But I will say at this level, sometimes when it escalates it can be the result of bad officiating. The coaches try to keep the kids in check because remember, they are still kids and at that age still figuring stuff out, not in total control of emotions, etc. But some of these refs… they collect their 45-55 a game and just 'let it play out' and don't make even calls, or calls at all. So despite the best efforts of a coach or the kid, a player might get frustrated or a player knows they'll get away with stuff and it'll boil over. Seen it happen.

I never get frustrated at a ref at that level for a mistake or 'bad' call. They're usually doing the best they can and are usually so great at teaching the kids & it's ok. Usually, they don't care who wins, whatever. But if it's a small town ref – and I've seen a couple – that have a clear bias for whatever reason that this happens more often with. Would rather have just 1 ref and can be far more patient there than the awful one that ruins it for the kids. Again, I'd say about 95% of the refs are just fine. But when you get one of the really bad ones…

  2. So many of you racists in the comments talking about little Black children. They'll figure it out. Your disdain for Black people is just as bad or worse than the way you presume "fatherless" or "ghetto" children act. Y'all are pathetic.

  3. Are there no adults involved any longer. If all programs and schools explained to the children ahead of time, 'violence will be met with immediate and permantent expulsion from the season' you'd see less of this. There seems to be little pre-emptive education like we received decades ago.

  4. I see too many young kids in sports not show control and sportsmanship. I know there kids but they are wanting to fight over nothing.
