Pick my Brain 1-1 Call with Tony
The Master Boxing Program
Knowing how to throw a punch for self defense can be the difference between getting home safely and ending up seriously hurt. In this video, Tony Jeffries shares a real-life street fight confrontation and explains how his boxing training helped protect him when a situation suddenly turned dangerous.
How to Throw a Punch in a Fight
How to Win ANY Street Fight – 4 Ways
Signs that someone knows how to FIGHT
5 Things you MUST do Before a Fight or Spar
Tony makes it clear that fights should always be avoided if possible, but sometimes you don’t get a choice. In this situation, knowing how to throw punch prevented serious harm. As Tony says, it’s better to know how to punch and never need it than to need it and not know what to do.
Key lessons and takeaways:
Self defense is essential:
Street fights are chaotic and unpredictable. Learning basic boxing skills gives you a better chance of protecting yourself and your loved ones.
Learn how to punch properly:
A correct punch is safer and more effective than an emotional swing. Tony’s boxing background allowed him to react quickly and decisively under stress.
Stay aware and avoid escalation:
Situational awareness and calm decision making can prevent many confrontations before they turn physical.
Confidence and peace of mind:
Boxing training builds confidence, awareness, and control, which can make you less of a target in the first place.

Have you ever been in a situation where things escalated fast?
Watch Next: How to Throw a Punch in a Fight: https://youtu.be/QMxN1BSbTJU
That is always the worst type of confrontation escalated fast it happens so fast and if you dont know how to react or what to expect. Now days where I reside the judges here will put a guy away for years first offence of this type of violence depending on the circumstance. I know a guy that did 5 years and after he got out of prison then he had another 3 years of anger management and probation. Oh he broke both cheek bones nose and both eye sockets.
It's really good to know some form of self defense.
There's a skill in avoiding fights as well. Stoicism is hard to learn. As in my case, I got old. I'm done fighting. I had a pretty good right but him and my left are now retired.
Ah yes. The good ol' what are you looking at, scenario 😂

You gotta know how to walk away if your trained because beetN up drunk people is too easy🤣🤣🥂
It is crazy how fast an altercation can happen. I was with my wife at a gas station on our way home from snow sking, still in our bright ski cloths. Three guys said some less than nice things to my wife. I stared them down. They waited across the street in a closed shopping mall, and before I knew it they had boxed in my car with my wife driving. I had no choice but to get out.
At the time I had slowed down my training in the gym, I was off season from competing in bodybuilding and the ski cloths made me look like I was a fitness person. But, I was still training in Martial arts three nights a week.
With a lot of luck and some skill, I came out on top. The huge guy (witness stated "he looked like a little boy fighting a man", the guy was so big). I broke him up and his friends didn't jump me, thank goodness. I think they didn't know what to think as they watched their friends face slowly get destroyed.
BTW, during undergrad and graduate school, I made my living as a bouncer at concerts and bodyguard work in LA.
The point being, if you are trained, you have the best chance in an altercation. Nothing is a guarantee, but it will position you for a better possible outcome.
I'm 70 now and still hit the bags as often as my hands can take it.
I wonder how many people them blokes have picked on and bullied over the years….. karma's a bitch😂
You "ran away" because it was "frightening"? YOU??? Okay then. We know why you "ran away".
#1 learn technical standup from BJJ/Krav Maga and #2 striking
Lol, dunno about that thumbnail mate. Might have added 10kg of pure muscle to your frame.
Any time right or wrong win or lose alcohol played a part in it.
You definitely sound like the guy from Alan partridge 😂
Drunks are so unpredictable, happy then sad then angry etc😢
This is great advice. If you can't avoid the fight, knowing how to fight is going to get you out quickest (like "One-punch-Tony").
Avoiding a fight is the best. I've tucked my ego between my legs and apologized when I wasn't wrong, so I could avoid a fight in a bad situation. Life is not a Hollywood movie. Bad guys and jerks win sometimes. Don't become a statistic for your pride.
Sometimes the aggressors are simply psychopaths. Learn boxing, to beat them up!
Aggressive person: "What you looking at"
Good line: "Nothing my dad just died"
I've heard these lines can help deescalate.
P.S Only get in a street fight if you're willing to risk permanent injury or death – if not try to get out of there, or throw a punch and run.
P.S.S Don't go to places where people are drinking and you'll avoid a lot of trouble (especially at night)
When someone picks a fight with a person who turns out to be a trained fighter, is never a good thing for said person… When that trained fighter is a man who brought a bronze medal in the olympics
I used to think I got in fights because I’m a harmless looking fat guy thinking back I think most of the morons that I got in fights with were just aggressive idiots if a dude like you can’t get peace on a night out I had no chance mind you I won more than I lost trouble is most guys think they can fight but they’ve got no stamina in a real ruck
another lesson is to learn grappling. There was a chance you werent getting up when he took you down
