🥒 *ABOUT BEFRS:*
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.

If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I’m a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture. Peace!

  1. Fantastic episode. I loved the way you spoke about Harlem in an honest and direct way without getting too bogged down into it. Great guest stars as well. By far the best food show on Youtube, if not ever. Only Bourdain rivals you my guy

  2. This ain't soul food. This is a food fusion show. If you want real soul food go to foundational black Americans. As a foundational black American I find this very disrespectful to call it soul food. Dropped the ball on this one.

  3. Food coloring doesn’t go into Candied Yams. Yams are naturally yellowish orange. Ain’t no way the Caribbean is using food coloring in yams or any other foods. 😂

  4. I'm from Puerto Rico and I have never in my entire life, witnessed anyone add food coloring to Caribbean food; this is not a thing at all. $182 for fried chicken that has not been brined or pre-seasoned for a few hours, some grits and mac & cheese!? It blows my mind how these places stay in business. There are some really REALLY dumb people out there. OR you're just way too rich to care.

  5. Actually that bone in the oxtail is the key … unlike lamb bone beef bone is harder except the tail bone so more flavour of bone comes in the gravy and meat … plus meat will be sweeter as it is close to the bone ( i don't eat beef but still commenting based on my knowledge on mutton and chicken 😊)

  6. Kes sellist jama seal küll sööb. Euroopas oleks seegi asi palju tervislikum kui selles pisikeses riigis tehtud asi. Pisikese ameerika kõik toit ära bännida EUs.

  7. I absolutely enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for shining light on the culture of Soul food!! That fried chicken looks so DELICIOUS!!!! 🤤🤤

  8. $182 for that platter and taking a look at the menu and the prices just because he's a "celebrity chef" is a little ridiculous. It's fried chicken. Mamdami is coming after you Red Rooster, you're making too much money.

  9. I think one thing people are forgetting with the last place, that platter was serving FOUR people. Not one, so yeah that would be right for a high end place when you have four people.
No way would I be able to eat that whole platter by myself and I am not a small person.

  10. I watched this alone then with my son. He is a recent Culinary Association Graduate. Watching Mr. Samuelson; we collectively felt like the restaurant, his premise and response warrants an acknowledgement of "Complete Appropriation". I share the sentiment; "They want our Rythym; But Not Our Blues"…
