That cat is not scared at all, it's just curious about the noise. A scared cat would either not be there or be trying to make itself look big by puffing up and standing to the side, ears flat.
The nursing home one is so dumb. I work in one, every room is a "death" room. At least one client has died in each room. The dog whining noises are put in post. I will say that is a facility though, much nicer than some I've worked in
Why are people still afraid of ghosts? I've never seen one that could do more than open a door that is already slightly open.

As I have posted many times – when dealing with things like this you can not be scared. There are two types of energy people give off. "Mad" vibes and "Scared" vibes. The unseen can use the "Scared" vibes. It is like using a drill. Unplugged – nothing happens. Plug it in – you can use it. So if you are mad (and I do not mean "fake" mad but the "slap yourself in the face until you are ready to bite your hand off" mad. Get mad – the unseen will leave you alone. Be scared – even a little – and the unseen can take that energy and return it ten fold back to you as some "scary" thing. Also, playing down what a unseen does can also help. Something thrown off of a surface – look at it and go "Ummmm….yeah". Or maybe "*yawn* kind of interesting". You can even say things like "Do you know what stocks to pick so I can become a millionaire? No? Then what use are you?" But the best advice is to get mad. Really – really mad. That causes the unseen to lose power.
