Is there any evidence of this ever happening??? Or is this just fable
Thanks to the Greeks, we have federal child labor and abuse laws nowadays
"Ḕ tā̀n ḕ epì tâs", Come back with your shield or on it.
Love the history channel, I hope PBS stays around! I grew up on these two!!
You're leaving the gayness of the Spartans out
I visited Thermopylae last year while in Greece.
It's now a quiet and solemn place, hard to to think that such a violent battle occurred there 3500 years ago.
The current road that now passes by the battlefield is where the shore line was then, the ground so hard fought for by the Spartans is now buried 20 feet below the surface.
We walked to the top of the mound where so many warriors lay buried and unfortunately, lost to time.
I shared with my wife's Greek relatives that ancient Greece was used as a template for the establishment of our system of government. How Federalism, States Rights along with the Interstate Commerce Act and democratically elected officials, were crafted from ancient Greek examples but with modifications to make it a workable system.
The stand by the Spartans at Thermopylae truly was the most important historical battle to preserve the future freedom of western civilization.
Now we watch people act this out in Target parking lots at 1 am.
These guys literally refused to give up their kings body as long as they were alive!!!
I’ve been looking for this episode on YouTube for years ! They had It on then took it off for some reason
East vs West, Large vs Small, a King who watches the battle from afar vs a King who fights his own battle….isn't that a sight.
Side note: The Spartans were also the first to utilize clever, action hero one-liners as part of their arsenal. 🗡️ 🛡️ ⚔️ 💪 🏹
I don’t understand why Moronicus had to conquer his neighbor country anyway ???… Why doesn’t anyone ASK that question of tyrannical conqueres of history ???
My high school mascot was a spartan so I was on the Greek side by default lol
This is a classic.
That would have been the end of Democracy…?
The Persians were Democratic! At the time of these battles they were Democratic! Greece took the idea from them.
David George is a 🤡
The Spartans make me feel ashamed of myself, those were real men.
The hungrier one becomes, the clearer one's mind works, and the more sensitive one becomes to the odors of food.
hundreds if not thousands of the Athena n Sparta’s men wer dark/coal liked skinned men.. not as PALE as this clip shows…FACTS‼️
This is awesomeeeeeeee!!!!
Molon Labe.
The Spartan Shield also has a layer of leather in between the hardwood and bronze.
Love this battle documentary from the HISTORY CHANNEL! 👍
Leonidas was One of the Great Spiritual Directors of the Greek Orthodox Church. He was a Greek Orthodox Pope. That's what made me want to see the movie about this documentary. I appreciate the documentary. The Deepest debate between Roman Rites and Greek Rites of life and death, has more to do with the moral ethics of not how life and death will go, but when life and death occurs: and we're not allowed to predict the end of God's timing or the beginning of God's timing in either of these Rites of Worship of the Lord. Thank you for teaching, History Channel.
A history channel classic
On a long drive listening to this is far better than any radio stations.
OUTSTANDING !!!! 👍👍
