🌺 A paradise indeed?
Cyclones can’t form near the equator because the Coriolis effect – the spinning force created by Earth’s rotation – is too weak there to keep them rotating. So storms can’t build up enough spin to become full-blown cyclones.
📍 Where is Seychelles?Just south of the equator – between 4° and 10° South latitude – putting it in a kind of cyclone quiet zone:
* Too close to the equator for strong cyclones to form.
* Far enough that weak systems can pass nearby, but rarely turn serious.
A few more facts about natural disasters over here:
🌀 Cyclones / Hurricanes: Seychelles lies outside the main cyclone formation zones and is rarely hit directly by strong storms. While the islands can experience the effects of cyclones that form elsewhere in the Indian Ocean direct hits from major cyclones are infrequent.
🌍 Earthquakes:
* The country is also far from major tectonic fault lines, so earthquakes are extremely rare and usually not dangerous.
* There’s no active volcanic activity either.
🌊 Tsunamis: Although Seychelles is not immune to distant tsunamis, the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami did reach its shores. But the damage was far less than in places like Indonesia or Sri Lanka.
🌴 Natural Wonders You Didn’t Know About:
1. It’s made of granite, not volcanic rock – super rare for islands.
2. Home to the world’s largest seed – the famous Coco de Mer.
3. Has the largest population of giant tortoises – more tortoises than people.
4. Boasts some of the cleanest air and water in the world.
5. Anse Source d’Argent is the most photographed beach on the planet.
6. It was once a pirate hideout – and legends of hidden treasure still exist.
7. No indigenous population – people only arrived in the 18th century.
8. One of the tiniest capitals in the world – Victoria is adorably small.
9. It has a marine park you can literally snorkel through – like swimming in a postcard.
Not sure why this country is only known as a honeymoon destination… 😆😒
Like come on – it’s got pirate lore, giant seeds, ancient granite, giant tortoises, and unreal biodiversity.
This isn’t just romantic – this is next-level cool. 😵💫
