Silence of the Lambs Reaction, Recap, Commentary, & Review!! Roxy Striar & Andrew Gordon sit down for their first-time reaction to The Silence of the Lambs, one of the most iconic psychological thrillers in cinema history. Directed by Jonathan Demme (Philadelphia, Rachel Getting Married) and based on the novel by Thomas Harris, the film follows FBI trainee Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster – Taxi Driver, Panic Room, Contact) as she seeks the help of the brilliant yet terrifying Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins – The Father, The Two Popes, Westworld) to catch the elusive serial killer Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine – Monk, The Fast and the Furious). This reaction dives deep into unforgettable moments like the chilling “I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti” scene, Hannibal’s eerie first meeting with Clarice Starling, “Well, hello Clarice” (a line forever etched in pop culture), Clarice’s intense interview sessions with Hannibal Lecter, Buffalo Bill’s disturbing transformation scenes including “It puts the lotion on its skin” and “Put the lotion in the basket!” plus the terrifying night vision climax that remains one of the most suspenseful endings in cinema history. The film also stars Scott Glenn (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Leftovers) as Jack Crawford, and Brooke Smith (Grey’s Anatomy, Interstellar) as Catherine Martin. The Silence of the Lambs stands as a cornerstone in the Hannibal Lecter franchise, which includes Manhunter, Hannibal, Red Dragon, Hannibal Rising, and the acclaimed TV series Hannibal starring Mads Mikkelsen. This reaction comes as part of our growing exploration of legendary films and continues our coverage of the most influential thrillers.

I think Jodie's best role was in "The Accused" …, superb….
Haha Roxy is a live spoiler machine. Too good a guesser.
This movie would've come out in 1990, but it was pushed back to Valentine's Day in 1991.😊
Ah yes, the only horror movie to win Best Picture. (And there have only been SEVEN horror movies to be nominated. The others are… The Exorcist, Jaws, The Sixth Sense, Black Swan, Get Out, & The Substance.)
It’s also one of three, I think, movies to win the Top 5.
" Wow, good nose."
This isn’t my favorite movie ever. I have much worse taste 😂 but this movie is arguably a PERFECT movie. One of the best ever made.
Howdy team!!! Loved this movie. Hannibal as a psychiatrist was highly intelligent. The way he dealt with Clarice also showed how he cared for her. It is a great relationship/juxtaposition of people. I haven't seen this in a while so was so excited you are reacted to it for me. Y'all have such a great combo of people and y'all are so creative and have great personalities. Love it!!!!!!
This chick is only 33/34?? I would have guessed 45 easy
it's extremely frustrating when people bring up this franchise and never mention Manhunter(1986) I mean a William Peterson, Brain fucking Cox. again saying your starting this franchise and skipping this is like saying your starting the star wars franchise and skipping a new hope.
I hope y’all check out Hannibal rising after this trilogy!! Awesome reaction 👏👏👏
I tried to get into the show Monk recently, not knowing that one of the primary cast members Ted Levine played Buffalo Bill. I genuinely could not watch the show because his voice is so distinctive, and I was uncomfortable every time he was in a scene.
"I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti."
– Dr. Hannibal Lecter
Hannibal Rising is an amazing prequel to the character as well. I very much recommend.
How the F did he get that pen? That always confused me.
You recognized the Belvedere that Lecter mentioned at the beginning?Turns out that the killer lived in Belvedere,Ohio!
"Oh, I love this song so much! This is one of my favs!" Well, get ready for it to be ruined for you forever!
Should watch both Manhunter and Red Dragon.
Oh, it's super accurate. Jack Crawford was based off of John Douglas, author of Mindhunter and the agent who spearheaded the FBI profiling division.
Second comment I know but I was watching another youtube channel that did an analysis on the movie and pointed out that the only one who treated Clarice with respect was Lecter himself. The cannibal 😂
The scene with entymologists is so fun, partially as a bug nerd, but also because the way Clarise responds to being hit on here is so so different than how she responds to Dr Chilton. She doesn't shut the nerd down like Chilton, who is aggressive and distracts from the job at hand to flirt, and then is immediately dismissive and rude when she rejects him. She responds to the scientist's flirting playfully and they snap back to work as soon as needed, it doesn't slow the work down, there's no weird vibe change.
Very few men in this movie respect Clarise as a person, and that's intentional. And she can tell immediately when someone doesn't respect her, we see that feeling visualized several times by this point.
We know she reads people really well, so the way she responds to them is so so important, and tells us so much about that person and the read she gets from them, so we don't actually need anything more to see how different these particular men are, we know how different they are through a handful of lines, and how Clarise reacts to them.
Such absolutely incredible acting here, she makes the movie just as much as Hopkins, maybe more.
10:17 She was insulted about Miggs saying she can smell Clarice, but she says a serial ender and a monster is "charismatic and charming"
that wanker in the specs have mental issues? why cant he control himself, he a 8 yr old in a 40 old virgins body ??
Are you going to watch Hannibal Rising? When Hannibal is a child. It's pretty good.
So you guys have never seen all of the movies after this one. Red Dragon is one of my favorites. I have watched it many times.
i may have told this before. WHEN THE FILM was released it played in CALUMET CITY. The audience had absolutely no idea their town was going to be in the movie. the FBI raid was filmed in another state. There was a gasp in the movie theater and a buzz among the theater goers. Was there actually a serial in our town ? whats our town doing in this movie ? After the showing people left a llittle in shock. director apologized he had filmed the welcome sign just randomly during production.
😊disappointed that praper cut out the reaction to the "tuck scene" it's low key iconic
Monsters aren't born, they're created. And the Monsters that made Hannibal Lecter are the reason he's a cannibal.
Hopkins was amazing, but so was Brian Cox in Manhunter, with maybe less screen time. Hannibal is just a great character
Hannibal was a general in the 2nd Punic War, 218 BCE to 201 BCE. Hannibal is famous for having crossed the Alps in a campaign of battles across Italy against the Roman Empire. He did this by land rather than by Mediterranean Sea where Rome had too much of an advantage. This caught Rome very much by surprise. It was unexpected and one of the best attacks on The Roman Empire in history. Hannibal is also famous for having used elephants in this campaign. He failed to take the Capital city of Rome.
I recommend you do "Red Dragon" movie before doing "Hannibal" movie
10:48 you are? You seem pretty calm actually
Abraham Lincoln’s first Vice President was Hannibal Hamlin and there is of course the Carthaginian general, Hannibal.
At 14:59 – "Raiser" also known as a Car Jack 😂😂😂
At 13:36 – Try to play it off that you didn't get startled 😂😂
On the plane, stewardess asks Hannibal, you can have the menu to order your lunch. Hannibal: Can I have the passanger list please 😂
Roxy is genius!
what a sad cun this shrieking womanchild is
I just did a spit take when you said Jew Jets 😂
Not horror; adapted from an excellent book.
