The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza commemorated the 55th anniversary of the dedication of the John F. Kennedy Memorial in Dallas with a special lecture by Stephen Fagin, Head of Curatorial at The Sixth Floor Museum. This presentation, “Remembering JFK in Dallas,” explores the fascinating, controversial and somewhat strange history of Kennedy memorialization in Dallas from the immediate aftermath of the Kennedy assassination to the late 1970s.
This program is based on an article, “History in Conflict: Kennedy Assassination Memorialization in Dallas 1963-1989,” that Stephen Fagin authored for the Legacies Dallas History Journal in 2015. Very interesting history of the cenotaph memorial. I thought it was very strange when I visited, but the story behind it is very meaningful ❤.
