So you guys are wrong. The Pennsylvania v. Mimms court case established that police have the right to order any occupant of a vehicle in, or out of, said vehicle. That said, reasonable suspicion of a crime is required to initiate a vehicular stop – if the officer didn't have reasonable and articulatable suspicion of a crime, then every action after would be considered "Fruit of the poisonous tree" – meaning legally inadequate. The question that determines everything thing here is, could the officer, in a court of law, demonstrate that he was reasonable when initiating a detention because of something that most people would find legally suspicious?
