I built a garden for wildlife, then they took over the kids’ playground as well!

*ABOUT THIS FILM*
__________________
I’ve been lucky enough to live up here in the Yorkshire Wolds for the last 27 years and I have spent this time completely transforming this three-acre plot of land turning it into a true wildlife haven.
Wildlife haven
From barn owls to tawnys, kestrels to sparrowhawks, some very special species have since appeared. I have created bird nests, dens for badgers and dry stone walls for the stoats and weasels.
Wildlife takeover
But the wildlife has also taken over something that wasn’t originally meant for them.. my children’s old climbing frame. I built it for my two daughters, but they have since grown out of it
Hidden cameras
And now my hidden cameras capture all sorts of different animals enjoying it instead. See a badger pull on the ropes and a kestrel try bouncing on the trampoline. Some species are a little more wary, like the foxes and hares, but some species seem to actively enjoy all that the climbing frame has to offer
Stoats & weasels
Especially the stoats! My cameras caught a family darting all over the climbing frame together. They particularly liked the trampoline, pulling themselves on their bellies, jumping, playing and just having fun. Another species that regularly visits, is the weasel.
Pool
Water is scarce over the Yorkshire Wolds, so the kids old paddling pool has created a valuable water source. And it doesn’t take long before we get the first visitors. I have seen bullfinches, hedgehogs and woodpeckers drinking from this pond, barn owls and tawny owls also use it to bathe in and I once spotted a badger soothe itself in its cooling waters after a brutal fight
Night visitors
The climbing frame has visitors throughout the day, but it is at night-time that it really comes to life.
So I decided to build a hide and use this to study the night-time visitors. At night it really comes alive, I get owls coming all over from the surrounding countryside.
10 owls at once!
The owls come for the food I put out for them but it’s more than that, they also come to socialise, even thought they can be territorial. And it’s fascinating to watch how they interact.
A valuable site
This climbing frame has proven to be much more valuable than I ever could have imagined. From a family of stoats running rampant, to a badger boar soaking his battle scars. I can’t want to see what else I can capture here

Who'd have guessed wild animals also enjoy "enrichment" activities?
Vegans would be mad that the Owls didn't give permission to be filmed lol.
Thank you.
Bravissimo 👏👏👏👏🤍
This is the most wholesome video I've ever seen!
I want nothing more than a life like this 😢😅

Hello Robert, you took beautiful snapshots, keep up the good work.
Hope your daily effort become in a contagious way of life for those that want to help mother nature and don´t know how. I grow in a farm and we always found animals in not good condition, we try to help them but sometimes it was nothing to do, sad and helpless moments. Regards from Uruguay.

More like wildlife playground 😂😂😂😂😂 i also made my garden,,now they took over
I think the badger peed in the pool. 😂
It's nice that your "other children" are using the playground 😊
This channel is like a safe little refuge for my consciousness. Its a welcome break from the horror of reality.
Adorable. Thank you for the videos.
A real pond should be better than toxic inflatable pool water full of chemicals and biomass that can't rot properly, no?
You have a wonderful life, thank you for sharing.
I think I’ve just found the Bob Ross of nature photography. Beautiful work with a tranquil, soothing voice narrating. I can just about hear “Let’s put a friendly little trampoline here…and maybe a little pool there…”
Beautifull video.
Wunderschön ❤❤❤ 😅
Verry sweet
Magical Richard, what you've created 🦉❤️🤗
Thank you for sharing the transformation of your property I really enjoyed seeing how it drew in the wildlife and how much they enjoyed the children's playground 🙂 just lovely
Absolutely beautiful and magical. Thank you for sharing!
Now I have to get a children's playground set.
These videos need to be at least 40 min to an hour, or you can label them as short version or long version. Your videos and narration is outstanding. Much appreciated. From SA.
Such a beautiful vidio can we have more like that please .I really enjoyed it
Beautiful. All of it! Great filming skills also
Imagine the happiness and joy of barn owls when humans invented barns
I hit "like" before the video even began. 😊
thank you so much. I also moved to a house withbig garden 10 years ago, and amgiving it back to wildlife. It is a gift.
It’s so heartwarming to see. My little dogs and I enjoy hanging out in the backyard where we have a fenced off area that was originally a garden area. That’s now where I feed all the birds, rats and squirrels. My dogs love watching the rats run all over the place grabbing their food at night. My 7lb dog loves to chase them and pretend hunt them as they run outside of it. She walks super slow and quietly looking for them under the patio furniture and under the big cypress trees. We go out at around 11pm and just watch them for an hour or so. Enjoying the company of animals is the highlight of my day:)
Sir, this is incredible! Thank you for turning your backyard and children's park into an animal paradise. It's just beautiful!
How lovely!!
Absolutely amazing what you have done for the wildlife. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wonderful !! love it
