Finding abandoned puppies & hiking Jugra || How I found the cutest puppies in a forgotten building
I spotted an interesting area on the map of Malaysia that had a lighthouse, a river, palm and a hike. So I went to check it out. The hike up Bukit Jugra was to the lighthouse is nice with great views. The lighthouse is interesting and has a view point. I could not find a jungle path but the road to the top was nice. I then happened to find a bunch of puppies in an abandoned building. They were so cute.

There's actually another hiking trail there that I would consider as medium and difficult. You need to go to the little road in between a mosque on the same main road. Although I'm not sure if that trail is still open for public now since the last time I went there was before Covid. People often use the difficult (steeper) trail for practice to climb Mount Kinabalu, I heard.
cute pups
How did you end up finding this place someone did someone tell you before visiting this area
Awesome! bukit pronounced as boo-kit and jugra pronounced as joo-gra. In Malay, any consonants that has the 'u' vowel after it, are pronounce as a 'oo'. During the colonial days, both Indonesian (under the Dutch) and Malaysian Malay had it spelled with the oo but has since changed.
I see alot of other folks commenting on that. Apologies for the repetition.
🙂
And the cemetery you came across was a 'Taoist' cemetery. They are mostly folks from Southern China (usually originating from either Fujian, Guandong or Hainan province). Most Malaysian Chinese have their roots from these provinces. Obviously Muslim cemetery would have different headstone. And Christian one's would resemble the ones from the west which you'd be familiar with.
Cemetery in Malaysia is segregated by religion, ie Chinese, Christian, Muslim. Indians don't have burial ground as the dead are cremated . What is shown in this video is Chinese Cemetery.
It is pronounced Boo-kit Joo-gra. Not Ba-kit Jaa-gra.
Visit the "Istana Bandar" also located in Jugra
Bukit means hill in English so Bukit Jugra means Jugra Hill.

Yes the ponds are fish ponds.
I used to eat the mud baked chicken at the restaurant before the abandoned prison building.
