Bridges and tunnels connect our world, making travel faster and more convenient. But when disaster strikes, the results can be tragic. From structural failures to natural disasters, this video explores the common causes of bridge and tunnel accidents and dives into what engineers are doing to prevent them. Learn about some of history’s most devastating collapses and how modern technology is improving the safety of these critical structures.

Regardless how well something is designed and built, these type of disasters both natural and man made aren't 100% avoidable. All you can do? Try to reduce as many risks as possible.
RIP Tubby
TIRES?! I dunno man, seems intentional to me.

THE TWO BIGGEST THIEF IN THE WORLD BUSH AND FATHER
UNITED STATES IS THE BIGGEST FAILURE IN THE WORLD
On the Hyatt Regency disaster, the footbridge suspension rod system was actually designed correctly with both bridges being suspended by one rod anchored to the ceiling. That design was ignored when someone decided to save a few bucks and build it off of design by having the second floor bridge rods be bolded to the fourth floor bridge.
The margin can burn because its fat. Its technically not flammable and definitely not explosive.
7:52 This is a relatively small thing, but Minneapolis is not the Minnesota state capitol, Saint Paul is. This makes me skeptical about the quality of research across the video.
Oh galloping Gurdy, I’m very glad you don’t gallop anymore since I drive that bride a lot-
I live in Tacoma and have been over the narrows a few times. It still scares the hell out of me. Still don't like paying the toll on the way back.
Number 9, bit of a miracle that there were not more deaths.
The capitol of Minnesota is St Paul.
Rand paul is a Rhino, he needs to be voted out of office!
Trains are just ruthless power, truckers should know their rigs better and maybe get out and look… maybe check if you're not sure. NOPE JUST GO FOR IT!

It's always hilarious when a narrator says 'it shocked the world" when talking about a very small incident – but of course it happened in Ammmurricah, and therefore EVERYONE ON EARTH should care. LOL. Nope. I bet most people in THE WORLD never heard of it or cared even if they did. There is no structure in the world bigger than the American ego!
Oh no not the dog💔 poor Tubby 😢
Why show all the videos in the preview
The Narrows Bridge collapse is still talked about to this day
I appreciate your research and reporting, Thus is the best video on bridge collapses that I've ever seen.
If you can do anything to MAKE SURE something NEVER happens AGAIN, you can stop it from happening the first time. It's a dumb thing to say.
Cause we all know, when it's windy, watch your rubber bands for twisting!
The Minneapolis bridge collapse doesn't connect Minneapolis and St Paul
7:52 The capital of Minnesota is St Paul tho…
No# 9, Mississippi???😢😢😮😮 10:03
Watching this makes me wonder how some people even got hired
RIP tubby..poor dog died afraid
The video of Galloping Gertie is standard viewing for Engineering students.
40:03 – Error! The lowest car of the funicular railway in the Kaprun tunnel was NOT empty! It contained as many people as the rest of the cars. These people were the first to deal with the fire, and while trapped, they finally managed to break open a laminated "unbreakable" window to get out before the doors were opened. The only passengers to survive were the ones who left this car and ran downwards, past the fire, before it got too large and hot to allow that.
Huge traffic accidents in tunnels and on bridges
As soon as you know there's a fire in a tunnel and you cannot go anywhere in your vehicle, abandon it immediately and run for an exit, preferably in the opposite direction of the smoke. Don't wait – just go. Tunnels become toxic and overheated very quickly.
I love how they said the Genoa bridge collapsed with no warning. But the bridge gave plenty of warnings throughout its life requiring constant maintenance and complaints. What other warnings do you need than that?
I like the new i35 bridge in Minneapolis, it reminds me of our zilwaukee bridge here in mid Michigan.
Wooo
