1. I rescued a baby raccoon from sleet and freezing rain, It was trying to use the guardrails on the federal stretch of road and I saw the eyes reflected in the headlights. I pulled into the road between the two and went back and started over again driving very slowly and I saw a car up ahead doing the same. We found the kit and he had no idea what to do so he left the raccoon with me. I had little to offer, not even water but the man gave he a towel, a full bottle of water and soft snacks for his dog. I got his number so I could call him with updates. He was so cold that He was drifting into that sleep they don't wake up from so I unzipped my coat and have him water which he drank and then tucked him into my bra so his skin was against mine. I pulled up the zipper and made sure he could breathe and went to the animal rescue facility. He looked at where the raccoon had been warming up on the drive and said lucky little sod and we both laughed. He made it and I and one of the aids brought him back to the area to see if his mom was looking for him. She was and was thrilled that he was healthy and now safe with her. Raw body heat is the best, just expect that you may sacrifice your clothing in the save.
