Your movies are simply amazing! It's such a pleasure to watch them equally because of the topic and how it's made (shots, images, editing and music)! I'm a huge fan!
Older 2017 Africa Twin or newer Transalp or Tenere?
Another brilliant story told.
My only visit to Australia was in 2000 for the Olympics, – at work as a cameraman. I see now what I missed by returning to Europe without taking time off to see more of this fascinating continent. You guys are just so fortunate.
hey, here's a stupid question, does the himalayan perform better than these offroad?
The problem that many Africa Twin's 1100 have and that almost no one talks about. (NT's 1100 too)
Lots of cases where the Africa Twin 1100 consumes engine oil, between 300 ml to 800 ml every 1000 km's approximately.
In some cases, Honda changes the valve cover but it is not enough to solve the problem. This problem has been ignored by the brand, leaving customers with the problem and do NOTHING.
Many MANY AT models have corrosion problems on the frame and the wheels too, even when they are new.
unfortunately I have many proofs of this by true owners and I do my best to inform potential buyers since the videos don't talk about the obvious problem on the African twin 1100 at least on many of them and I mean many of them truly.
Tell me lads have you ever ridden an Africa twin with what they call the death wobble, my 2024 has it and I cant get to the bottom of why its happening its quite dangerous any thoughts lads
What an amazing video. Your discussion on the history of areas was handled with empathy and respect. Amazing adventure. 👍🏽 Transalp handled it well
Does anyone know the name of the song/singer at 14:40? Thanks.
How sad that straight lines 😢
awesome video Dave, that A/T looks the Business, what sort of K's were you getting out of the standard tank ?
But can these bikes be repaired by the Honda dealer in Wilcannia, who would not know what an error code is about? Or can the mechanic at Mt Dare? This is what you have to consider. Its why DR650s command a premium on the used market. But at least, on the face of it, a Honda is better out there than a KTM. In your purchasing decision, look up the compression ratio to gauge engine stress and longevity, heat and reliability. The DR650 is 9.5:1 and air cooled, the Africa twin is at 10.1:1 and 11:1 on the Trans Alp. The KTMs are at 12.7:1 so have a support vehicle handy with those. They are not called orange hand grenades for nothing. My BMW airhead is 8.2:1 and its done over 200,000kms without a rebuild and done three Simpsons. My mate replaced his DR650 carby at 100,000 kms for $126.
Looking at my second Africa Twin. Jumping on the first one in 2018 I was struck with how easy it was to ride and hoping again for that feel of being on a big dirt bike. The tubeless wheels, cruise, better screen, bigger engine etc. are precisely what riders wanted and Honda listened.Fantastic fun machine. Also spent about 6 months between two different trips to NSW and QLD and found the Australian people among the funniest and warmest people I have ever met.
Thankyou for all your videos, when you tested the previous model with clubby you mentioned the front Abs, is there an improvement with this on the 24 model?
Nice stuff. Heavy accent.
Nice video!
One thing made me think a bit, this is the first time that I hear that a aftermarket exhaust can give you extra 10 HP, it seems to me that is a little pretentiuos. I may be missing something…
too big, too heavy
just love my Africa twin its a 23 model i have done 9500 miles two tours to Spain Pyrenees on the ACT and Slovenia from the UK .i have converted from tubes tires to tubeless and have the quick shifter fitted which is a must and heated grips do you think its worth the upgrade to the 24 or do you think the changes are don't go far enough as for all the buttons i have fitted the offroad dongle one push of the star button and the traction and rear abs and also the wheelie control is switch off
I was wondwring, how many times you had to clean your air filter during rhis trip?
It is named Africa Twin, because it is like two bikes made into one heavy tank.
cracking for sure, especially when you need to pick them up!
20:28 Dog pissed on the inside of Dave’s jacket 😂 🐕🔫
It's a Honda. I've been looking at the AT lately. I HAD A BMW 1200 and loved it but wanted something less expensive and easy to maintain.
Dct sucks🎉
Africa Twin 2024: se c'è qualcuno che la possegga potrebbe dirmi i consumi reali nelle varie condizioni o per lo meno quelli medi? Grazie. / Africa Twin 2024: if there is someone who owns it could tell me the real consumption in various conditions or at least the average ones? Thanks.
Is the L1 model good fir road or is it strictly an off-road bike?
I traded in my 2024 CBR 650R for a manual AT with electronic suspension and so far I am loving it ❤
Great video fellas.
Hows the tubeless rims holding up? I have a 2023 ATAS and at 13,800kms, front rim spokes start losening up by buldging to the outside
I'm very impressed with you this content ❤ keep doing work like no other can do …👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
So not the DCT model then…
2:18 road trains woah
Nice place to take the Honda. Good video Dave
I owned a 2020 AT for 2yrs. The power was fun, but the weight is not worth the power for where I ride off road. I found the suspension wasn't up to the task often. I have sold it and picked up a 300cc 2 stroke to meet my off road needs. Ultimately, I found the AT did neither on or off road riding particularly well.
Maybe controversial opinion, but Hondas have never really appealed to me. I have found them a bit boring styling wise as well a all the features as ABS etc etc. (I know all have them now, but for some (probably stupid) reason I want to ride without them.) But the Africa Twin in White really tickles my fancy. I actually want one! I have always been a Yamaha or Husky fan, I've had a few Sukies, but I never really got in touch with them. Now my top two bikes has changed from 701 and Tenere to Africa Twin and the new 800 DE.. Go figure! But it only goes to prove that either people can change, or some companies has. Cheers! 🙂
Great video, very entertaining. But let us be honest here. Most of the track can be ridden on an Yamaha R6 😀
Love the Africa Twins. Would have been interesting to include the top line DCT model with 19" wheel as a direct comparison during the trip with these conditions. I reckon it would have done just fine.
I love it! Greetings from Germany! 😎
What tyres were you running during the trip?
Great video. Any noticeable snatchness of throttle at low revs?
Hi i am in Slovenia hospital i had a head on in Croatia on a Transalp it was to be the second 2 weeks the 1st 2 weeks on a Africa Twin
Dave, I know you like the 901 bike, but would you compare the twin to the 901 for off-roading?
