  1. Marimo are an endangered species in the wild, majorly due to climate change and pollution. Surprisingly, it's not a moss but a formation of Aegagropila linnaei, a species of filamentous green algae which takes this shape due to natural water flow. Japan celebrates a festival dedicated to Marimo as a reminder to protect them in nature and it's a symbol of luck and love in Japanese culture. They grow upto 5mm per year, so even a 2 inch ball could be 10-12 years old. Let's redefine pet keeping and encourage people to keep these as pets instead of animals that deserve to be in nature.

    Here are some care tips:
    • Don't let the water temperature go over 25°C
    • Give indirect/mild light, no harsh sunlight
    • Change their water (RO or dechlorinated) once a week
    • Gently squeeze and roll them during water changes to keep their shape
    • No heaters, no strong flow, no tank mate that nibbles too much on them

  2. One name is
