Welcome to Aswan, Egypt, in southern Egypt or in Upper Egypt as it’s referred to as. And today we’ll be going on an Egyptian food tour to eat some of the best food you must try when you’re in Aswan. From a man who serves fresh Nile fish as the Pharaohs ate, to home cooked Nubian food, we are in for a delicious adventure today in Egypt!

Egyptian Breakfast at El Manayea – But first, you can’t start your day in Egypt without the staples, and I’m talking about fuul and falafel. Here they mix the fuul with hard boiled eggs and flaxseed oil, and we needed the energy for the day.

Temple of Philae – Of course, when you’re in Aswan, there’s no way can miss the amazing sightseeing, and so after breakfast we headed to the Temple of Philae, one of the most picturesque ancient Egyptian temples on an island in the Nile River.

Fisher Man Island (https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJVKBTU4b3EwarDR9) – Next up we went to a restaurant called Fisher Man Island where he fishes and grills and fries fish on an island rock in the Nile River. Although we didn’t have much luck fishing this time, luckily he had some pre-caught fish. We had tilapia and the highlight was a Nile Perch, a fish that was eaten by ancient Egyptian Pharaohs!

Wanas Kato (https://maps.app.goo.gl/KhZu6LdRundu5dhP7) – Another highlight of the Egyptian food tour today was having a home-cooked Nubian food meal at our guest house. Nubians are an ethnic people group from Southern Egypt and Northern Sudan who have a rich cultural heritage and delicious food. The meal was outstanding.

Al Masry (https://maps.app.goo.gl/euknJrFopSW69cAy9) – Finally, we’re finishing off this Aswan food tour by going to the best Egyptian bbq restaurant in Aswan.

  1. Mark,
do you respect yourself for eating at such dirty places? Dirty kitchen, unsanitary conditions, bare hands, hepatitis and parasites heaven!!! Disgusting!!!! Perhaps good for locals, but not to Westerners…

  2. Tarreb is unique to Egypt; it is not cooked anywhere else, I have looked all over the world.
Other food might have variations across the world. Mosakaa is Mediterranean, fried fish is popular….. but not Tarreb.

  3. النوبة فى مصر ولكن السودان دولة جنوب مصر
    السودان ليست مصرية
المصريون القدماء ليسو زنوج المصريين الحاليين هم احفاد الفراعنة نحن مصريين احفاد القدماء المصريين

  4. Dear Mark, I love your videos, but today you gave me an especially big smile. I lived for about 8 years in Aswan in a Nubian village and I guess, it will always be one of my soul places. Hope, you enjoyed every moment.

  5. This makes me miss Egypt. I remember going for my birthday one year and we took a boat on the Nile, the funny part was it was so windy that we had just been going in circles for like 5 minutes. I didn't even realize until my dad mentioned it and then we all just started to laugh. It was such a lovely place and full of so much history! By the end of the trip, I never wanted to leave lol.

  6. Hi Mark, was the perch dead in the net when he pulled out the fish. The fish was upside down and white eyed when he was showing it to you. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
