The jazz – rock fusion group "CHASE" lead by lead trumpeter BILL CHASE was a band of
nine members with four of them being trumpeters . The group released three albums :
"CHASE" ( 1971 ) , "ENNEA" ( 1972 ) and "PURE MUSIC" (1974 ) . On August 9, 1974
trumpeter BILL CHASE , guitarist JOHN EMMA , keyboardist WALLY YOHN , and drummer
WALTER CLARK along with two others died when their plane crashed . Two former mem-
bers of CHASE bassist GARY KEITH JOHNSON and drummer GARY SMITH formed the
group "SURVIVOR" in honor of the fact that they weren't on the plane that killed their leader
BILL CHASE .

In August of 2001 I boarded a plane going from Jacksonville , Florida to my hometown of
Louisville , Kentucky to see my niece "STEPHANIE" and her soon – to – be husband "JOSEPH"
( "JOEY" ) get married in Louisville . My wife "LOUISE" did not want to go with me so I went
solo .During the flight , I had a strange feeling that the plane ran into something solid twice !!!
One month later on September 11, 2001 two planes crashed into the World Trade Center
buildings and caused them both to collapse . When I think back on that particular day , I get goosebumps and a cold chill running down my spine ! I had unwittingly predicted a disaster !

Waylon Jennings apparently opted out of the flight as he had a cold and didn't want to give it to the others who were flying. He went on the tour bus instead, not just "any old bus" and the tour bus had been experiencing mechanical problems – hence the idea to hire a small plane privately to get the performers to their next venue in better time. He and Buddy Holly exchanged words along the lines of "I hope your old bus breaks down again" and "I hope your plane crashes", words which reputedly haunted Jennings until the day he passed away himself. I was born towards the end of the same year….
Just to think, if Wahlberg and McFarland got on Flight 11, we would never get to see Ted! Oh, what a dark world it would be, indeed!
