Blount County, Tennessee — On June 11, 2024, Deputies with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check and possible domestic at a residence on Jacob Springs Boulevard in Rockford. When Deputy Corbin Smith, 25, and Deputy Edward Walker, 28, arrived on the scene at 3:19 p.m., the offender walked out the garage door. Deputies briefly lost sight of him before he reappeared and engaged them with gunfire.

The deputies sought cover behind their vehicles. Deputy Walker’s body camera video shows him being shot in the leg about four minutes after he arrived at the scene. Deputy Walker asks Deputy Smith to grab a tourniquet for him from his uniform, then hands Smith his rifle so he can apply it to his leg. About three minutes later, Smith is shot in the leg. He’s seen on his own body camera video taking an additional tourniquet from Walker’s uniform and applying it to his own leg. Several minutes after being shot Deputy Walker and Deputy Smith were told by other responding deputies they could escape the scene.

Deputies were able to rescue Deputy Smith and Deputy Walker while taking gunfire from the suspect. Responding deputies returned gunfire at the offender, and he retreated inside the residence. Additional units, including the Sheriff’s Office SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics Team), as well as multiple law enforcement agencies from the area, responded to assist. After receiving information that the suspect threatened to shoot an elderly female victim inside the home, members of the Sheriff’s SWAT team entered the residence and took the suspect, 59-year-old Ronald Reed Millsaps, into custody shortly after 5:00 p.m. without incident.

The woman who was inside the residence was not injured, but she was transported by AMR Ambulance Service to an area hospital for observation. After the shooting, Millsaps fired between 100 and 300 shots during the attack, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Millsaps, who appeared in court for the first time on Monday afternoon, has been charged with two counts of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault. He’s being held in jail in lieu of more than $2 million bond.

  2. Trauma nurse here, he really needs to control his breathing. You have MAX 1hr to keep them wrapped tight. Hes starting to go into shock. Thank god they didnt get an artery!

  3. jesus christ these two cops just sat in the same spot the whole shift, jk, 10 min, mustve felt like the whole shift. fuck 10 fucking min these guys were fighting for survival, they already each got shot. holy fuck. respect to you officers, you leave home going to work never knowing if anywhere can turn into a warzone at the blink of an eye. respect

  4. The sickest country in the world. Guns, guns, guns. Joe Homeowner is in a rage after a domestic argument and just happens to have the weaponry and amo on hand to fire hundreds of shots at police. Brave cops. Dumb country.

  5. Both Deputies hit by fire, yet didn't fire 1 single return shot! smh… why not return a few shots into the house to force the shooter to take cover for a sec or two.. which is EXACTLY what the other Deputies did to rescue them! They laid down suppression shots so the injured Deputies could retreat! Return shots into the house, Garage, front door/window area.. to force the shooter to take cover.

  6. Deputy walker is a beast. No panic, just carries on and reassures his colleague, even when the reality hit his colleague and he was scared.

  7. if they served in the military or had any knowledge of it they would know you are most likely not going to "see" the target. you shoot in the general direction of the muzzle flash or smoke of the gun fire is coming from. they should have been returning fire maybe their dept has rules against it but at some point you need to defend or protect yourselves. you gave the perp nothing to worry about or think twice about.

the suspect didnt "see" them either.

another thing ive learned from watching these videos is that the partner is never reliable. when the officer said he was losing his leg and cant feel it. he needed to rely that to the radio. let everyone know that he might not be mobile since his partner did nothing to rely the urgency

  8. I learned my 1st week as a reserve officer in 2007 that you DONT PARK THE FUCKING UNIT IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. They gave up any element of surprise and instead of approaching from different directions or one front one back they were grouped together. Proper tactics could’ve allowed for easier suppressive fire for one to move out, then reverse for the other. I’m glad they’re ok, but there needs to be one hell of a post incident review and retraining.
