As always trying to attack the morality of atheists is just shifting the burden of proof for their own. Because theists like that are so ignorant as well as arrogant in their assumption that if the other person is wrong then they must be right by default.
It scares me all these religious people would be running around murdering and stealing from everyone if they we're afraid of divine punishment, because apparently they're all inherently immoral maniacs
Please just ask these, "Apologists", to just talk to an ATHIEST!!!! Seriously. !
Plink. I DMed you on the X/twit thing.
It's Bobby, and he's my hubby, not my uncle 😁😅
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and strive to live up to it. – Buddha
So before the 10 commandments they were just a murderous, raping, stealing bunch of people. How did they survive?
Oh, I always thought that the christian religion was confusianistic ….
I don't think these people have read their religious books. They wouldn't talk about how good god's morals are
The next refuge after presup is "might makes right, so shut up" I think.
I hate that Sagan quote nothing requires "extraordinary" evidence.
Everything requires sufficient evidence, nothing more, but nothing less.
Life can come from "nonlife" in much the same way that water, a LIQUID, can come from two GASSES. Much as a cake comes from nonedible ingredients. The components do not have to be of the same form as the resulting thing. In fact, often when you combine things, the result is of a different type to the ingredient components.
1:49 Athiests can't justify their moral system? Sure we can. Being bad gives me bad brain chemicals, being good gives me good brain chemicals. Simple as. Christians are moral because they don't want to end up in a fiery pit in the ground. I'm moral because I'm just a fuckin human being with empathy and I don't need a reason like some invisible, always-watching sky daddy to be good. I keep myself accountable.
It seems like their arguments are always based on their lack of science education.
Is there a word for people who don't like Marmite? Amarmite? Amarmitist? Can I found a church of Amarmitism? I hate the stuff but at least it's real.
Q. What do you call an intelligent creationist?
A. If you can find one, I'll let you know.
(2:15) Yawn. A religious moral system is not an objective moral system; it just substitutes an imaginary god's morals for a social group's morals.
(6:20) Atheism is not a worldview; it only addresses one particular aspect of a complete worldview. And I don't know any atheists who "declare certainty" about any worldview.
(12:00) I can see A brain. I can touch A brain. I don't need to see or touch my own brain to know that it's there. Pretty fortunate, since exposing your brain like that is bad for you.
(15:00) Despite what the Bible says, "nature" does NOT testify that any god exists, and nature absolutely contradicts Biblical claims about the Christian god.
Shout out to Eru Illuvatar, thanks!
I follow the Buddhist 5 rules of conduct. They’re easy to understand, don’t require a god, or anyone to get nailed to a cross or burn in hell. Best of all they are more guidelines than rules. 😋
Atheists existed long before Christians did, so we can't possibly be borrowing our moral framework from that religion or any of its direct precursors. Morality in general derives from the evolved traits of empathy and altruism.
Not only they believe in a god, it happens to be THEIR god too ! 😜🤦♂
There is no objective morality, it doesn't matter who's assessment morality is based on. God's opinion of morality is just as subjective as anyone else's opinion.
I love the how they try to use the "you can't kniw anything for certain unless you're an omniscient being" and try to sneak in the blatantly false caveat of "or were given the knowledge by an omniscient being."
12:05 actually you can touch your brain, all you need is a surgeon and a glove and they can remove part of your skull and you can touch the organ. As for seeing you can use the same method but add a series of mirrors, or in the worst case cut off a portion and see it directly. Can that be done for god?
Praise Eru Illuvatar, whose creations sang Arda into being within Ea!
Keep doing it Mr Plink
Either way theist assertions are more important than facts.
I'm a realist. So Theists are actually borrowing from my world view before they can even posit their world view.
God exists in reality.. therefore you must start with reality before you can even suggest a god.
The claim that you can claim certainty is that you have to all knowledge or be created by someone like that is such a non-sequteur I'm cringing while still writing this.
How do you know the one who created you didn't lied to you /was mistaken.
If I grant the first part, still to be created by being of all knowledge doesn't grant you any certainty unless you are also given all the knowledge.
…It's not just cultural…They have to borrow from Christianity…
Christianity, that did far more than borrow from Judaism, which did far more than borrow from the law codes of Hamurabi and other cultures in their region…
And yet Atheists, by and large, realize that those morals don't necessarily apply to the here and now, and they were pretty bad even by the standards of their day.
And that's not even getting into objective vs subjective, yet, since Christians are claiming to get their morality from a god, which makes their morals subject to its morals, that are subjective to its whims in a might makes right, do as I say, not as I do, because I said so, authoritarian dictatorship.
You're not just boot lickers, you're tasting 💩
Religious zealots, phlat erfers etc. "Every day in every way I am getting dumber and dumber."
The irony of a creationist going on about intelligibility while having none
For epistemology guy: I know things my mom doesn't know. That disproves your premise that your creator has to know things in order for you to know them.
Ass-holy-ness…..😂
1:35 A basic misunderstanding: what morality is. Morality is just the system of behavior regulation that allows groups of people to get along. The only justification it needs is that it accomplishes that. Modern secular morality (which this guy no doubt largely subscribes to, rather than the barbarism of his favorite book) does a pretty good job of it.
6:15 "…either have all knowledge, or be empowered by one who does…" The flaw of course, being that if you don't have all knowledge, then you can't know that your source does either. Nor can they explain where that source got all the knowledge. So no, christianity doesn't account for intelligibility. Besides, even by their myth, God created lots of being that don't have significant knowledge, so being created by God doesn't generally lead to intelligibility anyway.
11:50 All vertebrates have brains. This is verified every time somebody cuts a skull open, either for surgery or butchery. People both see and touch these brains every day. But more importantly, direct sight & touch are not the only ways we detect things. If I needed to, I could get an x-ray or MRI, and see my brain. Unlike gods, which we have no verifiable means of detecting.
15:00 It's not just that the bible books were written post-death. It's that they were written decades after, lifetimes after in some cases, by anonymous authors. And the later the book, the wilder the claims. Also, while a biography of a celebrity might be interesting reading, it has no impact on my life, let alone on an alleged infinite afterlife.
Religious apologists want to give other people advice even while they admit they can’t run their own lives. Hypocrisy.😈
If life can only come from life, and god is the origin of life, then God is alive, unless He already died.
If God is alive then from what life did He come?
If He's dead, who cares?
As our knowledge advances, stupidity declines. But for some, stupidity will always be there to expose their ignorance. But it works well in comedy.
"Fresh content"? No, not really. Since there are rarely any original thoughts in the field of apologetics, there is no "fresh content" to be had, just old content remixed, rehashed and rewarmed.
Can we instead focus on the fact that if God(TM) was real, only one sect of one religion would exist, and the entire field of apologetics would be unnecessary?
Professor Plink, FYI – Jimi never died, God wanted guitar lessons.
Creationism is totally ridiculous to stupidity.
Apologetics = strawmanning
"How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man??" still gets me every time. 😂
