If there was a lake there once you can bet, and guarantee that there will be a lake there again so it was foolish to think that you could have agriculture or homes built in those areas, especially with global climate change this was foolish and reckless
Building 101… Don't build on a lake bed. Should we tell them not build on a dry river bed too?
How dumb building and planting on a lake bed shows us how dumb and greedy man is
Thank you for sharing.
Land = Money!! The people who sold them the dream will be long gone.
We have it here in the UK too! Designated flood plains built on and later, people wonder why they get flooded with 2 feet of water every 3 or so years! Local councils have a lot to answer for.
So who was the California Genius that decided to build farms and cities on a Lake Bed. Was it Newsom? Looks like Something he would be behind. Then he could implement another Emergency Decree.
The lake was there first.
Mother Nature is getting more and more upset because of what we've been doing to earth so far 😢
God is trying to tell your something
why are they not talking about drainage canals used to drain the lake in the first place? but only about "stopping the water" and building levies, which is a bandaid on a broken arm sort of thing
it seems that this is a controlled effort to ruin the agriculture in this place, perhaps to bring the lake back to serve as a water storage?
For a state who b!tches and moans about the lack of water, they do have a nasty habit of fcking up their own natural supply. Also, California needs to stop brandishing itself as the "breadbasket" of the US and/or world. Most states are agricultural by territory.
Retarted humanity in his limit😂😂
Werent you complaining about droughts in Cali ? there is the water then! BTW why would you build houses and entire farms in a lake bed? even us in Angola arent that Smart!!
Nature is taking back ,what's been taking back from
i bet there will be a drought in the summer lol
seriously – what do you expect?
try practicing some flood water rentions – swales etc and divert the flood water to other areas that are short of water
get off the area… it's a lake… find someplace to grow your produce…
Sigan votando por el zangano de democrata por gobernador y se quedaran sin nadita,,como en Cuba,NO LA SOCIALISMO,NO A LA MISERIA
Human life span might be too short to appreciate the earth's cycles the lake was gone now it is back and many more will come back even some deserts will be green again …but that will not be as big a problem as the spin the media and politicians might put on it
Nature fighting back….
Of cause its climate change as it was 50 years ago and 50 before that and 50 before that, its called a cycle some are short and others are ages long, they keep using micro time ie 100s of years talking about thousands and millions of years.
When you live in a dry lake, it doesn't really flood so much as obey the laws of physics.
The lake dried up one day so we moved in. Who would of thunk it'd ever come back?
2:21 LOL. "Tiny little fish, that are now growing, right on top of a road…"
Sam Cooke:
Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
What's this lady the anorexic aliern look? WHOA!!!
That's what insurance are for, start making those claims and hope those guys pays up on time, too.
Everyone knew it is a lake, and the people living there do not appear to be surprised at all.
you gringos you don't really know how to work with your environment, forget about Geography questions in a comedy show like Jimmy Kimmel this and wild fires really show your intellectual level, and of course your politicians as well, Biden, Trump, etc. 🤣No different to Spaniards.
Mexico Tenochtitlan the capital city of the Aztecs was a jewel in the middle of a Lake like that, and the Aztecs knew how to farm in that lake with CHINAMPAS small square islands made of piles to delimit the island, and then layers of organic matter like reeds and mud, on top of a base of soil and vegetation. The resulting raised beds are separated by canals that allow for the circulation of water and nutrients. You can farm year round, 9 times.
Then dummy Spaniards started to destroy this wonderful system and now Mexico city suffers of flooding of the streets during rain season.
The climate has always changed but this is human change. They diverted the water that should be a lake and obviously still can be a lake whether the people want it or not. With such shallow water dangerous algae can grow and with very warm water even brain and flesh eating disease can flourish. Whoever thought any of this was a good idea was dead wrong.
5:40 you can’t have it both ways. Climate change causing droughts AND coming out of droughts??? C’mon. But of course you would claim all ways possible to prove your BS points.
I believe karma will haunt American's sooner or later for the atrocities u people committed in various countries its just a beginning of the end lets wait and see
First of all there not supposed to be building anything where them floods are happening the reason why it's happening it's because it's wetlands and you're not supposed to build on it.
Think about the positive, nature is recovering
I'm rooting for the lake! Now that it is back, they need to insure that it stays.
Climate change, climate change, climate change.. Heres an idea for ya, how about you not build in a dry lakebed.. it was always going to come back at some stage
stop calling it THE bread basket of the world! Because it's not.
