17. One of the most forgotten natural disasters was the Lake Nyos exploding lake in Cameroon in 1986. Due to the lake being on a volcano crater, magma beneath the water causes carbon dioxide to rise and upon earthquakes or landslides, the lake emits huge clouds of carbon dioxide. This asphyxiates anything that breaths in oxygen in the surrounding area. ~3000 animals and ~1700 people lost their lives in this natural disaster

21. The mount Toba (off Java) VEI of 8+ at 70.000 years ago may have almost completely wiped out the then very limited human race because of the long term effects. And possibly wiped out some other hominid species that were closer to the explosion.
    But eventually the narrative of this program added the words "Recorded history"; it would have been more honest to record that in the title.
