As a Christian I totally understand where you two are coming from because when I attended Calvary Chapel, I had Israeli flags in my car and a sign on my rear window that read, "Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem." But I've come a long way in understanding the scriptures since those days and the real truth about the "end times" isn't something that will sell books I'm afraid! (I'm the author of an end times novel called, "Covenant With My Chosen" by Deborah L. Kuzenski so I have pretty much been where you are!) When I learned the true method of rightly dividing the word of truth, I began to see something startling about Israel: she lost her last chance to receive her prophesied kingdom at the close of the Acts period when as a nation she refused to acknowledge her Messiah, Jesus Christ. All through his earthly ministry to "the lost sheep of the house of Israel," Jesus held out in one hand wonderful promises of a triumphant rescue from her enemies and his return in glory in his kingdom; his other hand held terrible curses and consequences that would surely come upon "this generation" and not only because of their unbelief and disobedience, but that of their fathers was to be upon their heads! And that is what they got; and there is "no more sacrifice for sin" if they did not avail themselves of the sacrifice of himself that their one and only Messiah gave for them! Twice Paul tried to offer their kingdom to them and twice in Acts he announced that he would go to the Gentiles and they would hear him. Many Bible readers don't understand that the first time Paul went to the Gentiles (although he was still trying to reach the Jews), it was to a select group of Gentiles the KJV refers to as, "Greeks" – Gentiles that had blessed the Jews in some way and in so doing were covered under the Abrahamic and Mosaic covenants of promise; so that's why they were welcome into the synagogues. God had a specific role for those Greeks to play and that was to be the Gentiles that would provoke Israel to jealousy and perhaps save some (Romans 11). It wasn't wildly successful and the Greeks and the Jews that did not abide in belief in Christ were later cut off. In Acts 28, Paul again got fed up with Israel's unbelief and declared that the Gentiles would hear the gospel, and that is when the word went out to the workers in spreading the good news were allowed to invite in the "far off: Gentiles like those Diana-worshiping pagans in Ephesus (and in reality, us today). In Paul's letters written after Acts 28, he never mentions Israel's kingdom again and in fact, he doesn't even quote from the scriptures of the prophets ever again as he had done abundantly in his writings before Acts 28! This is a clue that the tide had turned away from Israel, who I believe is the one that committed the unforgivable sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit in killing all of the inspired prophets in the OT, then crucifying the Lord of Glory, and finally, killing the Holy Spirit filled disciples such as Stephen in the Acts period. Three strikes and they're out, not to be forgiven in that world or the world to come as Jesus warned! We are now living in the dispensation of the grace of God that began after Acts 28, but even the epistles written after Acts 28 need to be rightly-divided between those that still are addressed to and focused on the Jewish saints and the God-fearing Greeks. This means that us dirty dog Gentiles that previously were strangers from the covenants of promise and aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and with no hope of God in this world (and the Jews of today fall under the exact same category as the rest of us because of Israel being cast permanently away) can only find the scriptures that were addressed to and about our role in God's plans in two books of the Bible – Ephesians and Colossians – and even in those, only some statements are concerning us (as the bulk of the Bible deals with the rise and fall of Israel). Our scriptures can be identified by Paul's use of the term, "ye," as in "Ye, Gentiles," as opposed to his use of the word "we," as in, "we that first trusted in Christ," as applying to himself, his fellow Jewish saints, and the Greeks that believed. Even though, almost two thousand years to come from that point have concerned our relationship with God as Gentiles saved by grace through faith alone in Christ as a free gift for believing, no strings attached, and absolute eternal security despite our own failures, we actually don't have a lot of scripture to guide us! We do, however, have a clear hope for the future "appearing" of Christ, with a new kingdom (I believe for all that have ever had faith in what God was doing during their particular lifetime, so there will be plenty of Jews in it!) called, "the kingdom of his dear Son" – Colossians 1:13 KJV). So, because Israel has lost their final chance at a kingdom of their own as in Isaiah 60, etc., to believe God is behind the scenes rewarding and punishing what the nations are doing for or against the modern State of Israel (which is nearly 100% descendants of converts to Judaism from Eastern Europe, such as the region of Ukraine), is completely unwarranted – why would God do that if he no longer considers the "Jews" his people? To tell you the truth, most of the Jews in modern Israel are either atheists or follow the Kabbalah and Zohar where it teaches that Satan created God! We need to wake up and find out what God is really doing, which is dealing with the entire world in grace and holding his arms out wide for any and all to come to him and bask in his grace. (Ephesians 2:8 & 9 KJV) We have a choice to realize what God is actually doing now or face his Son at his appearing with the regret that we didn't bother!
