Had the cover from an Army generator – 15K I think, might have been 60K, hard to tell them apart – hit me in the head once. Was allowed to run out of fuel, was bleeding injectors.
Throwing parts as a diagnostic method can work well under the right circumstances. Depends on many factors.
Why can't the GM company put the sensor in an easily accessible area? But I love watching Ray do the job. I don't think an ordinary DIY guy can do the job without the special tools needed to get the job done.
Ray, is that electric ratchet 1/4 or 3/8?
Ive had luck with a regular socket
On this job when you take all the top of engine I know you don't like changing parts in this would you save customer time and money by changing the oil sensor when you had it apart before because of the difficulty of the job I know you don't like changing parts that you haven't proven to be broken.
I doubt if it'll make the News here in Scotland Ray so, after the hurricane, please, please let us know about the chickens. I think I speak for everyone here: we don't want them to blow away either – 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 would be bad.😂
Great repair, Ray. My only critique would be losing like 20 bucks in fuel when you unhooked the fuel line. Not really your fault though that gas prices are ridiculous.
Why do designers always put items that are likely to fail, in such hard to get places. There must be many other locations more accessable it could have been placed.
2 ujs an extension and a pick for the screen 15 min in and out
I dislike companies that use proprietary parts that do not fit normal tools. Unfortunately they all do this type of garbage.
Finally some oem parts. Many aftermarket parts suck.
damn never actually seen anybody do this the correct way lol ive always just put the sending unit socket on a wobble and short extention and can get it out qith a ratchet just by taking the cover off the intake and the fuel line off the rail
"Same difference"… lol. Just means the end result is the same, regardless of how you get there.
Seeing those towels in the intakes brought back a situation I saw in my youth. A friend had a 58 Chevy with a 348, it broke the distributor drive and when he pulled the intake so he could get the broken piece out he stfeed shop rags like that. To make it short he was in the drives seat and wanted the radio on and turned the key to far. A week later with new head gaskets and distributor on it lived again.
All that removal not needed and you know that…you can reach around with the special socket….i did mine in literally 5mins ok maybe 6mins
You did say you all. That's what they call a Southern Florida accent. But same difference As a Southerner.
Not just burning your fingers will wake you. So will sticking the palm of you hand across 240V UK Mains. Although I wouldnt recommend it. But it certainly woke me up for the rest of the day.
Hope all is well Ray I'm in the UK very rough looking storm watching the news about sunny florida work must be cancelled for a while surely all the best Ray from us here
you checked for a screen beneath the sensor. what are you looking for do you need to remove it? does it get clogged?
8mm Extendo Wobblies Gravity.
Ray, I hope you and your family/friends are safe and didn't suffer too much damage. I am in the Tampa area, and as your neighbor, I wish you the best!
That flashlight seems to have some blinker fluid in it.
Would wearing gloves help keep your phalanges from burning on that hot engine?
I have had a replacement sender for my 02 for several years. It has a fluttery reading at idle but reads fine under power. A common problem. Looking at this vid … and procrastination has served me well on this one… what a pita for something so simple.
You pulled that manifold in 15 minutes. When I did my knock sensors almost 10 years ago on my 02 silverado… that took me hours!
Something i.picked up in the middle east
Same like same
It's the same but not exactly the same
Same same
Exactly the same!
I’m so glad I have bolts on my fuel lines. The way this one is set up looks like a nightmare!
Can’t you just get to sensor from underneath??
Should you disconnect battery when doing this project?
Removed that with the intake on, with a wrench, in my vett… Dropped the old sensor, still stuck back there somewhere… Stay safe!!!!
Not sure where you are in Florida but I wish you the best with the hurricane. Stay safe Ray love your videos.
Clearly, the owner of this vehicle likes you work! Good deal.
The best part of waking up is when you realize you don't need to wake up and tuck back under the covers for an extra hour or so heh
