The Summit

Spread The Viralist

In August, 2008, 18 mountain climbers reached the top of K2. 48 hours later, 11 people were dead. While memorials paid tribute to those killed, there were also condemnations about ‘the why.’ Why do these athletes risk everything to reach a place humans are simply not meant to go? With breathtaking cinematography and jaw dropping reenactments based on the testimony of those who survived the climb, this thrilling film is about the very nature of adventure in the modern world.

  1. “It didn’t make sense for us to go down” Everest climbers are some of the most disgusting selfish fucks I’ve ever seen and I don’t feel bad for any of them that fucking die except the Sherpa’s

  2. Calling a death during such a climb an 'act of God' is a bit too nuts for me. There's reasons these people die on these mountains. That's called FAFO. It's the same thing people do when they shoot weird drugs. And 'I speak Tarzan English' is the best quote I've ever heard from a nonEnglish speaker.

  3. I do wonder though. Curiously if they bolted permant safety rope into the mountain face deep drill & anchor with epoxy if it would be nearly as difficult. I realize that would be against law & code of ethics

  4. Maybe this makes sense to some. No matter.
these saying the Beautiful mountain vistas??
To me the true beauty is seen in Indiana at the end of the growing season. The corn comes out of the field, and once again we can see for mile across the flat, straight roads thru out the county. It is to me, the most beautiful time of the year. deer running across the fields, and just FLAT. Not curvy roads, straight, and flat.. that is my beautiful.
A view of farming gardens as far as the eye can see.

  5. Dren Mandic falling was a sign. The Mountian was foreshadowing the events that would unfold and none of the climbers listen. Selfishness? Egotism?
