Welcome to the Corporate Casket, a semiweekly series where bad businesses go to die. We will discuss any and everything from bad charities, terrible CEOs, and businesses that have a lot to hide.

The Dodo has become the warmest, ‘cuddliest’ corner of the internet. They’re a never-ending stream of adorable, clickable, animal content. But do they really have the animals’ best interests at heart? They’ve promoted unsafe animal interactions and inappropriate pets, and they source themselves consistently. The Dodo should remain extinct: they aren’t the news site they claim to be, but a clickable brand to earn money.

  1. I apologize for this delay in a correction, I have been dealing with a family emergency all weekend. In the section about the dog being eaten by a polar bear, it was a different dog on the same property but not the exact dog in the video that was killed. I’m super sorry to anyone that mistake may have offended. Ive been a little scatterbrained through recent events and I apologize profusely for this error. I’ve been wrapped up in a serious emergency. It’s still ongoing so I may be a little more quiet than usual.

Merch correction: Hey everyone, for the merch sale there is no promo code. It’s an automatic 25% off. There was a mistake in editing that wasn’t caught and I’m super sorry about that, but the discount is automatically applied. ♥️

  2. I knew there was something wrong with them. People think they know better than the animals themselves what's good for them. Ffs, that's a wild animal, leave it be and live in their natural environment, they know very well how to survive.

  3. As someone who works at an AZA zoo and has a degree in wildlife conservation, most cute animal content that doesn't involve a dog or cat on the internet is literally just insane mistreatment of animals disguised by a lack public knowledge.

  4. pkay but yes alllllll zoos ARE bad thats like saying not all cops are bad🙄 animals do not exist for your entertainment and should not be shown off in cages or enclosures

  5. i remember one time after a pretty rough florida storm i went to take my dog out for a walk and saw him sniffing on the ground for much longer than he normally does. i pay close attention to my dog when he does go out so i walked over to where he was sniffing and saw a rather young bird on the ground. i couldn’t identify where the bird came from, but the first thing i did was to take the bird back and keep them in a small shoebox until i could figure out what to do. i called my local wildlife sanctuary to see what i could do, but unfortunately they didn’t pick up. i was a bit panicked because i had never handled a bird before, let alone a wild one, so i started looking at resources pages on what to do. after some digging i was able to identify that the bird i found was a fletching and the best thing i can do is to keep the bird in the shoebox and place it outside and wait for it to go on its own. thankfully it wasn’t too long until i noticed the bird was gone, i was still a bit worried but i knew the bird could find its own way. i had seen videos of people “rescuing” wild birds and knew i couldn’t take in a wild bird, especially since i had a dog. after learning about how most rescued birds on the dodo was really just fletchings, i felt more at ease with my decision to let the bird do it’s thing rather than trying to “save” it myself. i still wonder if the bird that i helped is still around my neighborhood, but i’m more than happy knowing i did the right thing instead of needlessly stepping in without any prior training on how to rehabilitate wild animals

  6. Yeah. My niece once found a baby bunny that's mother had been killed by a car. She wanted to keep it. Instead I drove an hour to drop it off at a wild life rehab center, made a donation, and we went home. I hope the little bunny made it, but taking it there was it's best chance at survival

  7. Also some reptiles contain a minor Venom usually used for paralyzing insects but if for say your cats allergic to it and they get bitten in defense can cause issues

  8. It's not only the fact that PETA can be very unethical. It's the fact that they want to tell you what pet you should keep. For example, they say fish tanks are abuse. Yes, many people have overstocked tanks (not cichlids) or bad tanks, but many people can properly care for their fish. Also idk if it was PETA, but an organisation wants to stop meat eating men from reproducing.

  9. This makes me sad because I enjoyed watching the dodo and loved seeing the happy animals but I now know that animal rescue channels usually aren’t what they seem

  10. They also commonly refer to these animal owners as moms or daddies which is freaking sick language. Our pets do not see us their parents.

  11. I’ve seen the Dodo spreading PETA’s anti-SeaWorld propaganda and shoving footage of Taiji’s Dolphin hunts in people’s faces to discourage anyone from visiting marine parks as if to say,” You buy a ticket to a dolphin show, this is what you’re supporting” to shock and disgust people.

  12. Don't you feel remorse for your crimes against these innocent creatures?
Don't you see that they love life like you and don't want to die?
Don't you see how much they are afraid of dying and scream out of fear?
Do you want someone to treat you and your family or loved ones like this?
If you have an iota of compassion and conscience, stop this dirty work.
    (Eating meat is a crime

  13. I watched the Dodo for a little while, but found that videos from actual sanctuaries, rehab centers, and rescue farms were a lot more interesting, educational, and emotionally fulfilling, even if the stories didn't always end happily.

I'll admit, it took me a while to be ready to watch this video, mostly because I didn't want to have been duped by a member of the Corporate Casket, but I am glad I've found better animal videos to watch.

  14. anyone who likes dogs, a creature that eats shit and vomit, shits in your house, its pee kills grass and soil, again anyone wholikes dog is automatically crossed off of my good-people-list. and then there are dog attacks, even if you survive your life will drastically change for the worse. always ptsd from any dog. and then dogowners want to force their dog in your face to prove not all dogs are bad. and thats if you survive a dog attack, multiple surgeries for months upon months, constant pain physically mentally and emotionally. and if you dont survive, you ll die obviously.

but did you guys know, that any dog has such dirty saliva, that you can lose your limbs from a dog LICK? not an attack or scratch but a LICK.

yea dogs truly are cancer. anyone who likes dogs is a waste of life.

  15. I think it’s important to note about the odd couples that there are some unusual animal combos that do work like how a lot of big cats lions/cheetahs etc have emotional support dogs and get along fine but they are well taken care of and supervised not me mention raised with the cat as a littermate it’s all about research and education

  16. if im gonna rescue an animal I won't have the time to film. most of the people that film are the ones that do the bad stuff to the animal, I've seen one that I hated so much ( the puppy is drowning and the person started filming trying to save it!)

  17. 12:46 your point is valid, your example is fallacious. pets learn what we mean and can understand things. if youve reacted negatively to your dog doing something, they will be conditioned, like kids, to not do it again.
my rabbits have a specific sound that makes them freeze immediately. they arent panicked, or stressed (i check every time). they just stop what they’re doing, and stand still, before trying again (this is only if theyre mad at me or when they’re really enjoying what they’re doing). they usually stop the second time, and its only when i make that specific sound, because my rabbits are accustomed to me making all sorts of noise. and they sleep through it, they even have the option of going to the their hides, in their bedroom, but they dont mind it. they UNDERSTAND that my voice and noises will never be harmful to them, so they dont flinch. but other people are another story.

  18. 6:45 dont take this as a given. that hamster doesnt seem scared. know your animals. but the thing is, theyre toeing a dangerous line. the hamster isnt acting scared, or like prey, so the pets arent really riled up. but that delicate balance can shift in a instant. i had a cat living with me and my rabbits (they freeroam). the only reason i was okay with leaving them alone, is because they had designated areas and ways of escaping, and because the rabbits were in charge. the cat was their size, and they were two; so they were a little intimidating to the cat. i also knew that my rabbits were feisty, had each other’s backs.
    but know your animals.

  19. 1) I don't like it when people humanize animals. There's people who even say we, humans, have to learn from animals, which is wrong. I've also seen videos where they refer to a dog as a "child."
    2) I agree that it is so dangerous to portray odd couples in detriment of the animal that is a prey and the one who is a predator. For example: It is heartbreaking to see birds in the presence of cats, doesn't matter how "tame" the cat is. That poor bird is at a great disadvantage.
Putting animals in danger for "cute" videos is plainly WRONG!!!!!!!

  20. Brian Ladoon: “I always thought they got along”

“Oh she liked him just fine. She licked his chops and asked for seconds”
