Residents of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates were left stunned as a sudden hailstorm battered the city, covering the streets in a blanket of ice.
The unusual weather event, which lasted for several hours, brought traffic to a standstill and caused damage to vehicles and buildings.
Eyewitnesses reported hailstones the size of golf balls, with some even larger, falling from the sky. The storm also caused power outages and disrupted flights at the nearby airport.
Local authorities were quick to respond to the emergency, dispatching teams to clear the debris and ensure the safety of the residents.
While hailstorms are not uncommon in some parts of the world, such extreme weather is a rare occurrence in the UAE, and has left many questioning the cause of the unexpected phenomenon.
Meteorologists have suggested that the hailstorm may have been the result of a sudden drop in temperature combined with a high level of humidity, but further investigation is needed to determine the exact cause.
In the meantime, residents are being urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant as the cleanup continues, and to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property in the event of future extreme weather events.
